I bought the British Smurf Collectors Club information about 18 months ago. There wasn't a great deal of info with the club, but there were lots of old card details with member names and addresses, no email addresses. I did get these all put into an access database and I need to find the cd which is lost in all the boxes at the moment because I am in the middle of moving.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to manage this club. I am happy to pass on the info I have to a UK Smurf collector who would like to take over the club. As long as it goes to a collector rather than a dealer then there would be no charge. I think whoever takes over the club would need to charge a membership fee because it would cost quite a bit if you have to snail mail newsletters, etc. Part of me would like to think I could eventually get the club active again, but realistically it is not going to happen in the near future, and I know someone else could do a much better job. Also, while I am displaying info on my site saying I am running the British Smurf Collectors Club then it could be stopping someone else setting one up, which isn't fair. If someone is running an overseas club who wants to merge this one with theirs then that's not a problem either, I am just suggesting someone from the UK ought to run it due to the costs involved. If a dealer is interested in taking on the club then there would be a charge because I did pay for the info, but for a collector there will be no charge.

I hope I am making sense! I am not sure what to do if more than one person is interested, maybe more than one person could run it?

I think it would be cool to get the BSCC running again. From the old newsletters I have read of Suzanne and the SCCI, there was a lot of info from that club. But I guess in this age of the computer, snail mail newsletters everywhere have kind of died off. Good luck :D

I agree it would be a shame to see it die off. I hope it continues for the British members involved as I get the feeling it has been around for a while.

Good luck from me too

Yes good luck Karen, I have learned a lot about smurfs but not enough to run such a club I reckon.
Nice name for a cat. :D

I've PM'd as I would love to do this. As a Smurf collector for 26 years, and member of BSCC since 1995 I would put all my love and effort into getting this going again.

Please let me know what you think?

I want to wish you "all the best" too Al.....it would of been a shame to see it discontinue, and since you were a long time member already, I also think you will be perfect for the job.

Thanks everyone! It's slightly surreal and its all I can think about! I'm really, really honoured and I hope to, officially, get something solid up and running for the new year. After October when I have the stuff then I will make a real effort to put BSCC up and on the map again!

This will be very, very cool indeed!

Thanks to everyone! Blimey, what a year! xx

Hope to see you all at passion on Sunday to help me celebrate!!
