Hi all,

What about a forum promo smurf?
Does anyone know what's the order size to have our own promo smurf?
Are promo smurfs cheaper to do than Promo smurfs?
Do we need to talk to IMPS or Schleich?

Cheers

Maybe Rachel would know :-?

Well, I like the idea, but there seems to be some slight problems...

We don't have enough forum members to order a promo smurf from Schleich... heck, do we even have enough members for Scheich to bother reading our mails?

Second, we could probablky in theory do a non official expensive promo - like get a normal cheap smurf, give hime a paint job and splash the board logo... wait... we don't have a board logo....

Board logo contest? ;)

Hi,
as far as I know the minimum order is 5.000 and of course you need IMPS permission (not for free).
Hope this helps

Max

I'd be very careful about making your own promo smurf..IMPS are very unsmurfy :(
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

I emailed IMPS a while back about costs etc for promo smurfs for a charity I'm involved with but never got any reply, just used email on the smurfs official site as don't know of another address for them.

Love the idea though.

Hi guys, firstly I have to say, I love the idea of a forum promo Pascale, it really is a lovely thought. :-D

Unfortunately, as mentioned, I am sure that a large amount have to be produced and the costs for this are very high and as Steve mentions, making our own could well get us into trouble with IMPS but it is certainly worth thinking about to see if there is anything we can come up with. :D

I am not exactly sure the relationship the SCCI and Suzanne had with Schleich / Peyo but I am guessing that Schleich had more of an interest in keeping the collectors happy back then as the smurfs were far more popular generally and therefore generated far bigger sales figures, possibly even making up a much bigger proportion of their productions.

As for the SCCI figures, yes they were produced in very small numbers, normally just in the hundreds but these figures were just general release figures which had had the Schleich mini animals attached and the certificates themselves were all produced by the club so as far as I can see, there wasn't really a lot of extra work involved. Also, I should add, these figures were made available to members for a very reasonable price but obviously on a first come, first serve basis. These days we are seeing the problem of fakes being made of these because of the extremely high prices these figures are now sold for.

It really would be nice to have a figure to represent us, my vote would be for a smurf collecting smurf. Now if we could just persuade Schleich and IMPS............. :fingersx:

Hmm, a smurf collecting smurf, that does sound like a neat idea Rachel. I'm trying to imagine what it might look like :D

A smurf holding a mini smurf model (a bit like the smurfkind with the doll) but in relative size i.e. the smurf should be about the size of their hands.

Does anyone actually know of anyone that could be contacted at schleich though about this?

Re faking issue could maybe number then (like with the Endress + Hauser smurf, albeit I realise that was easier because of the material made of)

I really like the idea of a forum promo smurf....and your idea Rach would be the perfect model.....unless it's a Syd collecting Rollerskaters....or worse....holding one

I don't think the member numbers on here would matter too much, cos if there was a forum promo smurf, then I am sure every smurf collector would want one....sellers would want more than 1, as I am sure we all would too if they were available for a good price.

It would come down to permission and price.....oh and with Schleich....a reply would also help :o

You inspired me so I emailed Schleich to ask about the posibility of a promo smurf for a charity I'm involved with and I did get back an answer the next day from klaus.weisshaar@schleich-s.de

Dear Mrs. Horseman,

This is overall wonderful idea :-D

I agree a smurf collecting smurf is perfect :okay: - we just need the miniature one made to stick on a standard smurf. This smurf could be scale 1:50 of normal smurf and so only a very small fraction of standard costs to make a smurf :-? 8-) Hmmmm :scratchinghead:

Postby Smurf1303 » Wed Dec 05, 2007 8:42 pm
Absolutley love your cost idea :haha: ... £3 for regular smurf plus 1/50 of that is an extra 6p so the smurf should be around £3.06, think I could afford that :) :)
