That's my idea for the project I'm starting tomorrow at my evening class :D

The asignment is too create two magazine pages on any subject we want as long as it incorporates both text and pictures.
I'm going to be writing a two page review of the Smurf Awards ceremony - The Papas!

It's going to be a mick take on the press' fasination with The Oscars (TM).
I'll include a full list of winners and highlights from the event including back stage gosip, speechs, best and worst of the fashion) and, of course, glossy photos! (well my art, really :) )

I'll let you know how it goes :D Sorry if I've started this thread in the wrong section.

Hiya Claire, your course sounds very interesting (dental technology), im a registered dental nurse/But mainly dental practice manager now a days. What does your qualification lead you to do when finished ? I must admit dentistry and smurfs go hand in hand. Ive got a great collection of dental smurfs(promo's) and toothbrushing ones too . You must post us some piccies of your project when finished if poss :D Lucie

Cool idea Claire

If you want to use any of the smurf movie reviews (or posters) or customised smurfs from my site, you are more than welcome to it.

Sounds like another cool project.
Daryl

I got my first toothbrush smurf at xmas! I keep wanting to ask you about the dental smurfs - what are the promos? I can't believe I'm into dental smurfs :) I can't believe I've found an expert on the subject who I can chat to about it :) :) :)

I will be a registered dental technician at the end of my degree. I am registered dental student now. I work full time in an orthodontic laboritory and have a day release at college.

(for those who don't know, because I didn't untill I was offered a job (?!), a dental technician makes dental appliances, eg dentures, crowns and braces. They have no contact with the patient. but they have to know their stuff!)

It's hard work isn't it? But I want that qualification. I'm enjoying the trade. I had to write about the roles and responsibilities of dental nurses (and the rest of the dental team) for an assignment a few months ago. I wish I'd posted on here then. I could of asked you :D :)

I will definately post my project for everyone to see. The smurf one. Not the dental team one  :)

Great idea, Claire! Looking forward to the results!

Talking of dentists I have been away with the fairies the past few days. I had a dental check-up today and with a new dentist because my old one left so I was really getting worked up about it, I really hate going to the dentist. I am on a high now because he said my teeth are fine and the new dentist is not scary so it is a HUGE relief! Kitty however refused to even open her mouth, she lay back on the chair with her mouth as good as superglued shut, she is one willful little madam and we gave up in the end. I swear she didn't open her mouth until we left the building!

Anyway, the more smurfy people that get into the dental industry the better methinks, it can only be good for us all because smurfy people are the best!

I never knew this before joining here Lucie...however now it seems so obvious. Even the Caveman & Cavewoman reminds me of Football & Teeth :-?

Sounds like a very exciting project Claire.....I wonder who they will thank in their speeches??? I am surprised they weren't called The Brainys actually :)

I thought you would be more hurt by Simon's clubbing :-?

I wasn't picking on you really.....I really do think of you guys when I see Rugby, Dental or the Cave smurfs. They just naturally remind me of you both and in a good way too. The same goes for a lot of other smurfs here....dragons and fish also apply.

Just be greatful I don't do orthodontary.. I would swap different peoples teeth around to look like mouths from the movies, history, travels etc.. I would also use too much bluetack and fill their mouths with PVA glue. Apart from that, I'd then start on fixing their faces to look more like smurfs (at no extra cost).

Hey I might just give that a go.. the thought is growing on me. Graduating from smurfs to real people. I could go on and do plastic surgery on them all, just as I do with the smurfs. My training and methods may be a bit odd but they will all be smiling even when they were blue 8-)

Me thinks "house of wax" but only in PVC...

I'll leave you with this thought .................... <I don't think out aloud okay!>

I've seen worse things done to kiddies mouths - your over qualified!
And there's a load of money init for you too :-D

I think orthodontic surgeons (cuz they work mostly with children) should give out a free smurf for every tooth they extract!

:) :) :)

Claire:

Closet smurfer :) Keeping it all under wraps aye.. then spring it on 'em just when they least expect it. Better still just as you are let loose with the drill on real people start talking smurf and see if they all dive for the Novacaine<sp>

You could be the new version of the tooth fairy.. leave a tooth under your pillow and in the morning get a toy smurf (as opposed to a real one that would get squashed).. leave a toy smurf under your pillow and get Aunty Flossies false teeth to play with... great stuff.
