Hi everyone,

I have some more facts for the collectors who, just like me, finds the history of Schleichs smurfproduction interesting. :-D

Today it is about the company making the boxes for Schleich, when they changed to the trilingual boxes in 1983. Instead of having special boxes with english they added english to the german/french boxes.

At this time the company Carl Edelmann Gmbh made the boxes for Schleich. Just like many times before they used a town neighbour when making them. Carl Edelmann HQ is in Heidenheim, but the boxes were made in Weilheim where the plant for these type of cardboardboxes was located.

I will add more information about Schleich promoforms that companies could use and what numbers could be made, choices, production abroad etc.

this company also made the combiplayset boxes with the wrong number 40601. I got two unused combiboxes, sold first time in 1983. number 1 and 2. They are dated 27 april 1983. Maybe these were boxes stamped by the company making them and not meant to be sold. Just samples how they should look like and approved by Schleich?? :-?

As you see the samples are the same they used when these were sold in 1983. But later in 1984 they added a sticker with the correct number 40701, as on my combi set 1 with the french sticker on the front. That box was sold by Mafi around 1984/85.

When the boxes were sold they many times got these type of stamps. they comes in different styles and colours. I am not sure if these are control-numbers, but I think it says so on the assembly-instructions on some houses??

The red dots from Sri Lanka existed in 1983 for sure. :D Probably started around 1982/83?? I think we talked about that before. :D
