Hi,

I have a question about the #1 teacher. Is it always marked 1983 Hongkong W Berrie? I have one with 1981 W Berrie markings. Same mold as pumpkin and with W Berrie.
André

In Sweden the smurfs are blue ( and yellow).

I have sold several Red and Green Apple Smurfs these last few months.

Red Apple had two variations:
Schleich Peyo 1981 W. Berrie Co. Made in Hong Kong
Schleich Peyo 1983 W. Berrie Co. Made in Hong Kong

The Green Apple had four variations: (Not including dark and light green apples)
Schleich Peyo 1981 W. Berrie Co. Made in Hong Kong
Schleich Peyo 1982
Schleich Peyo 1982 W. Germany
Schleich Peyo 1983 W. Berrie Co. Made in Hong Kong

The Pumpkin Smurfs had similar markings:
Jack O' Lantern: Schleich Peyo 1981 Made in Hong Kong
Plain: Schleich Peyo 1981 W. Berrie Co. Made in Portugal

Great information Jim!!

I think it was like this. The Pumkinmold made in 1981 was used for the Pumkin in the beginning and then also the Apple. But during 1983 they made a new Hongkongmold for the Apple and the old Hongkong-pumpkin-mold was sent to Portugal. And the Hongkong-marking was blocked and Portugalmarkings were added on the back of the smurf instead.

Therefore the Apple can have both markings. A short time in the beginning when the Apple was made the old Pumkinmold was made. Then with W Berrie.

So just as you say for the red and green apple both Hongkong-Pumpkinmold with W Berrie 1981 and Apple mold with Hongkong W Berrie 1983.
For the Pumkin 2 variations of the Hongkongmold was made. First without W Berrie and then with W Berrie.

So basicly all these 3 smurfs, #1 Teacher, Green Apple and Pumpkin, can have 2 hongkong-markingvariations. :-D

Is it possible that the Pumpkin smurf can have the following marking:

Schleich Peyo 1983 W. Berrie Co. Made in Hong Kong

which is the same as the later Apple marking.

:-? :?
