Hi Maureen

Yes it's one of the hard plastic ones.............. but most of them only have W. Germany and Peyo on them.
Just a few like the one with the flower and the flying one has Bully on them to.
Never understood why this one was in the catalogue from Bully.
And i believe there is a Schleich moon smurf with red zipper in this catalogue to ?!??!?! So some strange things are in the catalogue.

Tintin
That is odd that only those few have the Bully marking. The schleich mold moon smurf with red zipper was made by Bully though.
YES!!! :joy:

Finaly something we agree about Shinysmurf!! :-D

Red zipper was made by Bully the first time.

Volkmars wife tells us about a kingvariation Bully made in 1973, that is shown in the catalogue.

Have anyone seen that variation???? I have not seen it and can´t see it anywhere on websites??? :?
Where do you think Bully got one to take a picture of, and where did they get one to go in their museum?
I have no idea!!

Never seen it anywhere. Maybe it is a prototypevariation like the ones from late 1979 in the Bullythread I started today?? For YOU Shinysmurf!! But I am not sure I will convince you anyway?? :-? :D

But in this case it would be a prototype from 1976 when they made the small mold??? That is just a guess.

And as said before there are a lot of things about the Bully production between 1973 and 1979, that I have not figured out. BUT regarding the order they were sold I am very sure since that is based on the facts given by Bully between 1974-1979.

Basicly I think the pictures in the museum catalogue could be correct. BUT they mixed the years up pretty badly!! :-D

Otherwise for example all smurfs pictured are also all  the ones sold according their catalogues.
 Thank you for posting your bullythread for me. As I have said before I see what you mean from your research because it does make sense. I have more research to do for now, and if I find anything of interest I will let you know.

Andre we agree on more than you think. As I stated before I agree with most things you have written, because my research shows the same as yours for the most part. As a matter of fact the only thing I can think of that we disagree on is this Bully year thing. :) Who knows you may still convince me. :???: I have to e-mail Bullyland a few times though first.

The problem when emailing Schleich and Bullyland are that they have a policy not to answer questions from collectors. Probably because it would take a lot of time and also that they don´t want to say something that then turns out to not be true.

So they just make the figurines and thats that!! :-?

I agree with this as well. I have gotten a couple of responses from Bully in the past, but not anything of significance much.

Shinysmurf,

here is your answer from Bullyland I recieved today from 2 different person working there:

"Dear André

Thank you very much for your message! It is great to learn that there are people in the world who give so much attention and enthusiasm to BULLYLAND, Schleich, the Smurfs and their history!

Company BULLYLAND now being under the third ownership, there are not that many people left who know the complete history. In fact, none of the original founders and staff of BULLYLAND of those times you are mentioning are still in the company nowadays.

The Museum catalogue you mention was printed in 1998 in one single edition only and had never been re-printed nor newly edited again. Company BULLYLAND's focus nowadays is to concentrate on the present and the future. Though we do understand that for collectors the facts you mention are of great importance, we need to fulfill economic goals and targets in our daily work and we feel certain that you understand the need of a company to work cost-effectively and to grow.

In any case, the Museum catalogue will not be re-printed, so unfortunately there is no chance to correct the facts. We are sorry that this might be an unsatisfactory answer for you, yet it is the only one we can offer.

We wish you continued fun with the Smurf history!

Kind regards

Barbara Kreibich

Manager International Sales&Marketing"

So basicly it is like this, Shinysmurf. :D

Either you believe the information given by Bully in the 70s and which you say makes sence, is the correct one.

Or you believe the information given by the company in 1998 and which don´t make sence, is the correct one.

Both are information given by the company!!

Hi Andre

Seems the best thing Bully can do is to hire you to make a new edition of the Bully book :-D

Funny that someone outside the factory has to tell Bully what's wrong or not :)
The hole thing made me laugh :D

Actually I think it is like this with all research.
You have to find things from the time when they happened to get the right story. For example if someone remembers something from 30 years ago, and says that it was lead in the paint they used for smurfs 30 years ago. That could be completly wrong. The only way to verify that is to read what is actually written in the newspapers from the years when it happened. Memories are good because they can lead you in the correct direction, but they are far far away from facts. The only solid proof is to find papers from the years it happened. That is also why boxes, cards, posters, catalogues are fantastic tools in research. And last but also very very important, THE MARKINGS, they were also put there the years they were made. :-D They are like messeges or keys to us, just like silveritems have markings that makes us be able to date them. :o I mean posters, boxes, catalogues don´t lie or guess. They are solid facts!!

And that is also why the SCCI letters are so fantastic when it comes to the things that happened between, 1986-2000.

When I was working at the computercompany they did a monitor about the computerhistory, from the first laptops, computers, monitors etc. They added years, information etc so visitors could watch that and remember. But the years could very well be wrong and differ within 3-4 years. I don´t think they put so much effort in that catalogue either. The main thing was to tell the story.

They probably did not expect collectors to argue with them about that they were 3 years wrong 30-40 years after it happened. :-?

So if a Bully-picture from 1976 shows the smurfs sold in 1976, that to me is a fact.

But if a Bully-picture from 1998 shows the smurfs sold in 1976, that to me is not a fact. Just like the pictures I take now, saying these are the smurfs sold by Bully in 1976, are no facts. The only solid fact are on the posters, in my opinion!

:-? :-D
