Hi People,
So for some of my really worn smurfs, I am thinking it would be fun to try a repaint. I have seen the ones in the Blue Cavern gallery and was very inspired. What do you use to repaint a smurf? Whatyoe of paint works best: oil or acrylic? Do you then seal the repaint with a gloss sealer afterward? Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry can’t help you with this but I look forward to seeing pictures once you have repainted some of the smurfs.

Acrylics work pretty well. I bought a 20524 Trendy Smurfette & painted her hair black using Games Workshop acrylic paint & it did a good job. Looks much better than the original yellow hair :-D

Here goes; I took this photo way back in 2008 & was surprised I still had it on my hard drive :-D

I think she's rather cute & I'd take her out on a date anytime :) :) :)

Trendy Smurfette’s sister looks amazing. I reckon we will start to see more hand-made (repaints) come up for sale due to people’s dissatisfaction of the current smurfs being produced.

Wow! Your repaint looks fantastic! Yeah, way better than the original yellow hair. I am going to the craft store this weekend to get some paint. I am not sure what I’ll do first, probably just some easy project to start with, like repainting the coyboy smurf’s hat a different color.
