I am thinking about making a page on my website about smurf clubs..past and present.

Does anybody know of any clubs that used to exit or are currently active?

I know of "The Smurf Collector Club" which used to be the British Smurf Collector Club, until it was brought back to life by Alan and which currently is very active.

Obviously (since I already have a page on my website for them), I also know of the "Smurf Collector's Club International" which was based in the US and gave us the SCCI smurfs.

Another club I have heard of it is a Dutch club that is still active, mainly on fairs...can somebody remind me of the name and provide some information about it as well as a website if one is available?

Then there is the "The official Smurf Fun Club" of which I don't know anything, but I do have quite a few articles from them. I think they existed in the 80s.

Are there other clubs that used to exist...or currently exist? I would love to learn more of those as well

The SCC website is still the British Collectors club which I thought was originaly the SCCI till Alan brought it back to life as just the SCC.

Well, in the Netherlands we have this one:

http://www.stichtingvansmurfenverzamelaars.nl/

Stichting van Smurfenverzamelaars
translated "Foundation of Smurf Collectors"

They are active, they have a fair near Utrecht in 2 weeks time:
15 april 2012,
Zalencentrum De Schalm
Oranjelaan 10,
3454 BT in De Meern
This means actually a new location for me, since this is NEAR Utrecht, and not IN Utrecht.

I'm not a member though....

Greetings from a bit silent, but still collecting Aly & Ron!!!

well, we have this one, still active and organizing several smurffairs each year:

http://www.stichtingvansmurfenverzamelaars.nl/

A long time ago, I was a member and one used to receive a small present each year, like stickers or cards or something like that.
I also have an agenda

No, the SCCI is a different club from the current Smurf Collectors Club...they were founded and organized by different people :D

Oh okay maybe I misunderstood, Alan had said that the club started up again I thought he meant the SCCI restarted as just the SCC now.

There were different clubs in the 70s and 80s...

There were several clubs in Europe which I don't know much about

Then there was the British Smurf Collector's Club in England which is the one that Alan started up again and now renamed to the Smurf Collector's Club. This club pretty much brought the smurfs to England.

And in the US, there was the SCCI (Smurf Collector's Club International) originally named Smurf Collector's Club. After the founder, Suzanne, passed away, Pete from Mushroom Village sort of took this club over but it was never the same. I think during Suzanne's time, this club was the most active one with the newsletters and the special SCCI smurfs.

I think, what Alan is trying to do is combine both clubs now into one..but I am not sure because I have not spoken to him. There is also a possiblity that both clubs used to work together..but again I don't know for sure as I have found no evidence of that in my records of the SCCI..and never gotten to know Susanne or the founders of the British Club :D

No idea since when.

I found this link, which is as far as I know one of the founders, fir sure members.

Dutch television visits them at home. After the 1st video starts actually a second one, which is at one of the fairs (the one in Utrecht, which now moved to nearby De Meern)

I think, the name was different at first.
Then, due to financial technical rules, you were no longer a member, but a "donateur"
I can`t remember when I joined them, too long ago, but I think, they exist since 1997 or so.

There was an Australian Smurf Collectors club for a few years in the 90's as well. "Smurf Heaven". Here are my scans of the newsletters.

SCCI was very important for smurfs collectors. Now we have internet, but can you imagine how difficult and hard was to get info with letters, faxes from USA to Germany 30 years ago???Suzanne and others did a great job, and despite of containig some little mistakes as some experts here have noticed, I really spent very very nice evenings reading all the info and trying to imagine how collecting was, without internet (ebay, BC forum, emails etc)

There are some spanish collector of smurfs who will join in Barcelona to found the first spanish smurfs collector club. If I am not wrong it will happen 3rd week of April. Of course I will be a founder member :) but sadly I won´t be there. I will keep you informed :D

Joaquin,

that is good news about a Spanish Smurf Collector's Club. Looking forward learning more about them, and if allowed I'd be happy to include the new club on my website page :D

I know of two official smurf clubs that existed in South Africa in the late 80's early 90's

First:
The Official Smurf Club Brought to South Africa through BP in the late 1980's. Once you joined the club you got a Badge and a Sticker. With every smurf you then bought at the BP petrol station you collected your till slips (Proof of purchase) and once you had a set amount you could send them away with a set amount of rands and you got the BP Smurfland Display for your smurfs. (The display is the same as the National Smurfland display with one small differnce, the display had an embost circle at the bottem of the display that fitted the badge in).

Second:
Enterprise was a brand that still sells viennas in South Africa. In the early 90's they Started an Official Club. You entered the club buy Paying R5.00 and filling in the form and posting it off. What you received back in the first package was a smurf (sign bearer with the club picture on it), a badge with the same logo smurf, a letter from papa Smurf.
Then another R5 a month later and you received Papa Smurf with lab glasses on a small container., A lunch box (Blue box with clear opage lid Sticker on). And a letter.
The next month was a school diary and stickers, recipies and vouchers for viannas,
P.S. There were three different flavours of Smurfers Viennas.

Great information, thank you, Pierre :D

Were you a member of both clubs and do you know if they are still in existence?
