one thing to the smurfs with the traffic signs...

I have most of the signs in two variations :)
variation 1) has a longer handle und is not cutted
variation 2) the handle is cutted and approx 1.5 cm shorter

Anyone knows a little bit more about that. As far as I seen the longer handle is the rarer one ....

Hi Cheesy

That's very interesting and I had no idea there were 2 different variations of these. I will have to have a look at the 3 I have and see if I can work out which ones they are.

Hi Joaquin, I agree. I have always wondered about these smurfs too. :D

Having just checked (again) all my books and catalogues, the only mention I can find of these smurfs is in the big purple book, Unauthorized Guide to Smurfs Around The World.

They are on page 122 (I don't know if you have this book) and are described as "Novelty Figures". The books state that these were released in 1979 and give a value of $15 - $20 each.

How accurate the information is I really don't know I am afraid. I know a few collectors who have had these for many years and as I mentioned in my previous post, although I had always regarded these smurfs as fakes, but as time has gone bye and I have seen more and more of them I think I will have to think again. :D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Thanks Rachel for the info....I saw some of these smurfs last Fair , but I prefered to spend my money in other items...These smurfs are not ususlly to see on ebay I think...I know it´s nott too "scientific" but the years a smurf stay in a collection can give us an idea if the smurf is homemade...When my parents bought this smurf for me ( netherlands or Germany), I think it had not too sense to fake these smurfs and sell them at low prices!!!!! The big problem with fakers is recent and of course 90% is ought to ebay and internet...
