No new ones this year, only the classic smurfs as Richard mentioned.
I know Schleich are very busy with their new range of knights released last year, they've added a lot to that range, including a medieval castle, so I guess our little blue fellows had to make way for that.
The supers that are going seem to be the school ones and the school playset as mentioned earlier. I am already out of stock on that, I can't believe it.
I have to say though, the lines they are discontinuing are my worst sellers. Last year I was gutted when they discontinued the marching band because they were my best sellers.
I am wondering what will become the most sought after item from these discontinued items in years to come and my money is on the school and playground playsets.
My wonderful dad has told me to place another order with Schleich, he said he will invest in some smurfs, so I have managed to order some more of the soon-to-be-discontinued items today, thanks dad!
I am actually quite excited about the new smurfs because the classic ones remind me of my childhood. And the UK agents for Schleich told me not to be too disheartened because they said things can always change, this doesn't mean smurfs are on their way out.
Also, this year I have had so many people phoning me up ordering smurfs for their children who have found their parents old smurf collections and really love them. If you think about it, many collectors are in their 30s and it is just the right time for the next generation to start enjoying the smurfs. If anyone is going to introduce the children today to the smurfs it will be the parents who loved them back in the 70s and 80s. I am feeling quite positive about it all actually!!
