I know I probably should know this BUT... What exactly is the paracodian a promo of? for some reason I'm thinking cold medicine :-? Also is the non writing an actual vertion of it or where they only made with the writting on it and never without? :-?

It amazes me how much there is to know about smurfs and to keep it all in ones brain is hard!! :)

Hi Gerda,

as far as I know, yes, Paracodin is a cold remedy but I cannot remember where I read this. :D

I am pretty sure that I have also read somewhere that in fact all the variations without writing should have writing on them but the print was of poor quality and came off very easily BUT I can't remember where I read this so will have to do a bit of checking to confirm it. I don't think I am making it up, but you never know! :o

I also think that too Rachel..on my 3 you can just about make out where the word PARACODIN was..I think they just simply rubbed off with age.
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

Sounds like something with paracetamol and codein in it, the usual stuff that work for everything :). I don't understand German but in case you do see here . I've never even seen the promo live but would surely like to have one ;)

Oh, I understand German, but there are so many medicin words in the text... :yawning: :)

Verrry short, it says that the (Now I should know the words in English... :???: ) Paracodin pills help against cough. It is used
to stop dry cough by deactiving the cough centrum in the brain... :???: :)

I don't have any of the Paracodin-smurfs but they are very interesting, because they are completly for Paracodin produced smurfs, have colour-differents and the writing... :D

Hi, Gerda...I thought that before, but as Steve says. The quality of the print is poor, and it´s come off...Three mine has lost the print...I think they all have been made with the word "paracodin"

And Pauli it´s right...Paracetamol and codeína are their "active components"...Paracetamol (as all of you know) is one of the most common analgesic, and codeín is an anti-cough...This mix is very usual in post-operation...There are hundreds and hundreds of commercial names for this mix, but in Spain it has been never sold as PARACODIN...I suppose it is sold only in Germany...

Ya know...I always thought that they were originally made with the print but later versions were produced without the print at all. I think I received one in mint condition that looked brand new in every way but didn't have the print on it. I think I was told that they weren't all released with the print due to the problems of it rubbing off almost instantly.

There are at least 3 variations of these and possibly 3 productions.....so it's possible.

These are the 2 I have....it's the one on the left that was bought in mint condition. Does anyone have this variation with the print as that may prove my theory wrong if that is the case

Thanks for all the help guys. i have the red scarf one and if I look closely at it you can almost see the words on it so I assume it was there originally.

Great discussion...Gerda, I am glad you asked, as I was having similar questions myself :) :) :)

Dyar, I don't have the yellow hat one...I have the red scarf and yellow scarf and as far as I know or remember both have the writing on them but they are rubbing off....or are nearly rubbed off :D

I can pretty much say that my yellow one never had the print....it looks brand new and there is no indication there ever was any print on it. That is why I think I thought some didn't have the print. It sounds weird that they wouldn't but there are no traces of it on the left one.

I guess we can see what we find out as we go along

I have two yellow hat/ scarf Paracodin Smurfs, and they both have the imprint on the front and back of the base. My red scarf Smurf had the print on both front and back, but it's worn off. On the other hand, my yellow scarf Paracodin never had the print on it's base. :scratchinghead:

Hi...I am sorry, I was wrong...I have just checked my Paracodin smurfs:

-Red scarf: Paracodin both front and back, but it's worn off
-Yellow scarf/white hat: Paracodin both front and back, but it's worn off
-Yellow scarf/yellow hat: No printed (like Dyar´s one)

Hi, I was sorting my new smurfs today and putting them with my others, so they can be put away...and guess what I came across :D my two Paracodins...I remembered this thread and had a look and I was totally wrong in my post above.....None of mine have the print on it and from the looks of it never had
One actually is the one with the yellow hat/yellow scarf (just like Dyar's) and the other one is the red scarf/white hat...but I can't see any traces that the writing has ever been on it... (somebody did put her name on it but you can hardly see it anymore... )

I guess...that means there are at least two variations for each type of Paracodin out there? :-?

This has turned into a very interesting discussion, Thank guys. :thanks2:

Firstly, I have to admit, I got all my Paracodin smurfs at least 4 or 5 years ago and I haven't really taken much notice of them since then so it is great reading about and seeing everyones lovely smurfs.

Generally am I right in thinking there are three main variations?

White hat / red scarf
White hat / yellow scarf
Yellow het / yellow scarf

I remember reading somewhere that a Paracodin smurf with it's writing in very good condition is worth far more as they are very hard to find in a good condition as (as we all know) the writing was very delicate.

I really have no idea as to whether any were ever released without the writing but one point that should be considered when thinking about this. The Paracodin smurfs are unique figures that were only produced for this promotion. As far as I am aware (although I will probably think of more later) they are the only figures to have this status ie. the figure itself was designed for the promotion.

Although I have no real proof, I would think it odd that any company would allow the figure to be released without their advertising as this defeats the whole purpose. Just my theory. :-?

Here are mine. Both have had the writing on the front and back although the white hat one is barely visible now.

Apologies for the last figure, but I had completely forgotten I had him and couldn't resist posting a pic. Don't worry, I am 100% sure he isn't yet another variation.

PS. Christy, your Paracodin is in a wonderful condition, he is a lovely smurf. :-D
