Does anyone remember the push mold modeling kit for smurfs. When I was a kid I remember getting a kit to make my own smurfs. You put them in a mold then I think you waited for them to harden and the you could paint them. I was wondering if there are any kits still out there. I am not sure if they were called push mold kits, but I would love to be able to get one and I haven't seen anyone mention them on the smurf sites.

Thanks,
Kelly

You had them (in Europe at least) from Mako moulage (French, I think), and later from Das. Different models were available. Mako was in the eighties (although the company still exist, so later ones may have appeared as well), and Das was (I think) from the nineties.

Hi Kelly, to be honest I am not 100% sure what type of mold you are talking about. As a kid I had a rubber type mold that you poured plaster into and then peeled off to reveal the smurf which you then painted but I don't think this is the same as yours. :D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Kelly,
I've seen the DAS mold kits on ebay a few times -- do a search and you may find some -- if I run across any, I'll post them :D

That looks like a MAKO kit, JT. Perhaps issued under some license in Finland? Very nice find, anyway

What a nice thing to find JT. It would be great to be able to make your own smurfs. I've got some hard plastic 2-piece Disney moulds which I had as a kid from the company Shaker Maker (you had to mix some powder with water, put it in the mould & shake like a cocktail shaker. what came out was a wobbly jelly like figure that shrank to 1/2 its size when it was dry). I used the moulds to make some figures for my kids using modelling plaster in September which was fun & worked pretty well.

I just don´t know if I dare to open it at all. Maybe I´d better get rid of it as fast as I got it  I´m afraid I´m ruining it...
