Hi all,

This weekend Tessa and I went to Belgium and we lucky enough to find several stores selling Smurf items as well as a single!! Smurf on a flea market, but what a find it was for us :dancing:  :mine:

In one store we found a whole box of those Spanish Super Guay Smurfs and we'll sort them out later. But for our own collection we found the first two Dupuis Smurfs :-) :D
Because they were very damaged we would normally not have looked at these, but they looked somehow famailiar and they reminded me of the photo Fram posted in another topic so I did check and, Yep, there it was. One was in a basket in a store and the other was the sole Smurf we found in a pile of rubble at a flea mareket :dancing:

Here is a pic of the two new additions:

Thank you very much Fram, for posting that other photo and helping us find these by doing so :D
Now a question on these, are the 6 Fram posted the only ones of this Dupuis series?

Thanks,
Dennis

No problem! I haven't found a source about the Dupuis union ones yet, so this is what I know.
You have a papa, lawyer, smurfette, drummer, vanity and tongue (20077) for sure. I think there were a few others as well, but I always forget which ones.
:sheep: Bored of normality, why not go smurf? :sheep:

On checking, these were the six I mentioned in a previous post, and I can't find any other ones on anyone else website for now (or eBay), so until I find another one, I would consider these 6 to be the whole series.

Yep, these are the nice, old, original Dupuis Smurfs. I still miss two of them and have one only in a bad condition. Almost there!

Hi Dennis, nice additions to your collection. It is a shame that these smurfs are normally in such poor condition. I know ours all are.

We have:

drummer
judge
mirror

I think I have Papa and Judge of these which frammy baby got for me.

Postby Syd Smurf » Mon Dec 12, 2005 6:04 pm
I have 2 of these (Mirror & Naughty thanks to Gerda) and I have the other 4 coming next week to make up the 6. I haven't seen any others in this range either.

I do love those other ones that you have Fram...they do look nice but are quite rare and popular when they do come along....someday :D

Ok...the package just arrived at work with the Dupuis Union ones and the Smurfette wasn't part of the auction. I didn't read the above too well. I have never actually seen the Smurfette one so can somebody who does have one please show me a pic? I have the other 5 and I will look out for any others but there's a good chance that there are only 6 all up.

Allright, it seems logical toi conclude that there are only the six of them then. Woohoo, one complete collection!
They aren't too expensive (apart from perhaps really good copies, like the ones Gerda has), only a few Euro's, as they look like dodgy fakes. The older Dupuis Smurfs are indeed way more expensive (and nicer and rarer).

Me confused now :-? :???:

DO you mean the larger ones? Or is there a difference in these smaller PVCs as well.

As you see, I am a real novice on this subject :?

Thanks,
Dennis.

The older Dupuis Smurfs were made from around 1960 till around 1965. They exist of a 30 cm high normal Smurf (a store display item, never for sale for the general public: stiffer plastic), four 15 cm high squeak toys (Normal, Papa, Angry, and a King Smurf with a cape) (softer plastic), and 5 PVC Smurfs (most often as keychains) with markings Dupuis, Dupui, or nothong, on the top if the hat (the larger ones have no markings). They consist of a Papa, normal, golden, angry, and prisoner. They have a distinct mould, with broad, flat feet, and open hands (not like the old Schleich/Bull ones with one open and one flat hand). They are very nice and charming. You can see some of those in the back of the DSK IV (Smurfy items?). In the same series exist also a Johan and a Peewit. Especially the Johan is very rare.

The Dupuis Union ones are the ugly ones. From around 1973, they are clearly made from the Schleich molds, but are in a harder material and badly painted. They have a Dupuis Union marking beneath the feet.

Then there are also three or four Garden Ornament Smurfs witch have a Dupuis inscription, but they aren't normally considered Dupuis Smurfs (they are probably German).

More like thirty cm.
The normal 15 cm is very similar, but has no eyelashes.
The keychains are the size of the Schleich ones. They are all very similar to the one Attom showed (thanks Attom; that's the one I still miss). Especially the papa is very pretty, in my view.

These are great and I really appreciated the info too Fram.

I only have the ugly small ones minus Smurfette but someday I hope to get the bigger and the keychain ones.

I do have the large Dupuis Digger but as you say Fram...he's not from the same group but still nice to have anyway.
