The drought is finally over! Smurfs have been found at the Sunday flea two weeks in a row. Let me take you through week by week.
So last week I had to work but Tracy called me and said that there was a guy with a bag full of smurfs. Roughly forty or fifty of them. It was a new guy too. Not the picky nose fellow or the crazy lady. Anyways, he wanted $5.00 for each smurf. Now from what Tracy relayed to me, they were mostly regular smurfs, nothing to stop traffic or anything. So I told her to offer him $100 for the lot of them. She did and he wouldn't budge. I said that I really couldn't see us spending $200 on a bag of regular smurfs but I hated to leave them there. So we hung up and I went back to work and tried to forget about them. When I got home, I wasn't sure if I should ask for the fear of finding out she had left them there or for the fear that she spent way to much money on them. So I sat down and Tracy pulls out the bag of smurfs. I was so happy to see smurfs that I didn't want to ruin it by asking how much she spent but I had to ask. So she got a pretty good deal on them in the end so I didn't have to take up another job on the side and there were quite a few I needed. Alot of marking variations and a Made in Portugal clown too. Wahoo.
This week, I was being a bit lazy about heading out to the flea but my smurfy friend called and said that a vendor at the Dartmouth flea had a shoe box full and that I had better get my butt over there. Now I hesitated a bit because the woman selling the smurfs is a bit of a wierdo. If she knows you are a collector she tries to be a bit deceiving. Almost like she is scared that you will resell them and make a kajillion dollars. Anyways, a few collectors have nicknamed her the Toy Nazi because she is so mean. I hope no one takes offence!! :-? Anyway, I bought 3 Smurfs, doctor, scissors bith made in Hong Kong and a red shiver keychain andan Empire Gnome still in the package but the top of the package is missing. Attom, he's all yours if you would like to add him to your collection.
So that's it for this week and probably until the new year as we have some visiting with family to do this coming Sunday.

Cheers,
Tam

Hi Tam

Some more interesting adventures from (I was going to say Super Market Girl) but that doesn't sound like it should....hmm....neither does the Mighty Flea.....get back to you on this...)

Some more interesting adventures from The Girl Who Is Really Super At Smurf Hunting At Flea Markets That Has Nothing To Do With Actual Fleas Or Supermarkets :D (I will shorten the name at a later stage as this is only a first draft).

Good to see you avoided that hand picked seller and at least one of the crazy ladies out there selling smurfs. It sounds like Tracy brought home a pile of smurfs which must of been so much fun sorting through for new variations. :joy:

Does your Portugal Clown have the red stripes on the Pants? In the DSK it only mentions one Portugal listing and says it is without the red stripes but mine has them just like the other variations and I have wondered whether this was one that was just a paint error more than an actual mass produced variation.

A nice report Tam with a happy ending too

Hey Dyar,
Just checked my clowns pants and they have stripes!! I'm wagering that it was a paint error.

Hi Tam, :wave2:

great to hear the flea markets have been a success recently and I am so glad to hear that Tracey rescued the bag of smurfs for a good deal. I am sure it would have been bugging you for days bot knowing what was in the bag and fab to hear you had some nice variations out of it. :-D

It is always so nice reading your reports, we don't really have anything like that around here that is likely to have smurfs so knowing that you have had sucess is GREAT. :carrots:

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......
