I have had a few problems with a couple of sellers in Germany recently. Normally sellers in Germany are some of the easiest and best sellers to deal with in the world but there are always a few in every territory of the world that have to make things harder than they should be.

Case 1: I won an auction last weekend for 1,99 euro. On Wednesday a friend of mine in Germany paid the amount via Bank Deposit and she emailed the seller to let them know the money has been transferred. So on Friday the seller files a non paying bidder with Ebay against me. I think this must be the most impatient seller in the world as it was under a week after the auction and I had sent 2 emails to them and my friend had sent an email notifying them of payment but apparently that wasn't good enough. They are still continuing on with it even though I have sent plenty of restrainted emails saying please give it a couple more days for the payment to show. Most sellers would be satisfied that the payment is on the way but basically this seller is saying that both me and my friend are liars cos the bank transfer hasn't shown quick enough....then again....has it and that 1,99 wasn't what they were hoping the smurfs would sell for?...makes me wonder I guess.

Case 2: I bought the large Astro and 4 sockels today from a very nice seller in Germany and the total postage within Germany was 7 euros which was perfect.

However from a different seller I bought 4 on smurfs on ebay and he is trying to charge me over 6 euro for postage when it should only be around 2,00 euro within Germany. Apparently this seller wants 3 times the amount maybe to make up for the fact that the item sold very cheap or that for some reason his Post Office just normally charges 3 times as much. I know the different between 2 and 6 euro is not much but even after I have told him what the postage should be he has firmly stated that postage is over 6 euro and besides, it's the principal of the matter since he is not buying any new packaging. My friend said he will contact him to sort him out but I think this seller is digging his heels in and will not listen to logic or the truth. For about the same rate I had 4 large Bully displays posted in Germany and I know you can get a house plus smurfs posted within Germany for about 6 euro.....maybe the seller forgot to mention that these smurfs are really all about 20cm tall and really weigh a tonne :)

Sorry for the rant....but these 2 sellers have made me waste more time and energy not to mention frustration than I would normally like.

Hi Guys, i really hope you manage to sort these sellers out Dyar. We have sent bank transfers before and they do take a few days to show up in the recipients account. Its just the same at work when i bacs the girls wages. They cannot expect the money to appear in a flash , these things just dont happen. I think the postage thing is crazy too. It seems like they are just being greedy so and so's , who can get away with charging what they like to make up for there items not selling for the amount they had hoped for. The worst i scenario i had paid £4 postage for a trudi (under duress) and it came wrapped in a brown paper bag ( no word of a lie) and they sent it second class. I so wanted to give them negative feedback, but Si being diplomatic wouldnt let me  Lucie

Hi Dyer you are not the only one. I won a green paint brush easter smurf a few weeks ago. All seemed fine i paid for it item was sent. only to have the seller send me one of them fake easter smurfs still in the raper.
He tryed to tell me it was a variation of the smurf. :x  Even though in the action it clearly stated that it was for the smurf in the photo. He even put the catolog no for the green one. he tryed to give me the run around he even told me that if i send it back he would change it so i said ok ill post it back then he said sorry i havent actuly got that smurf???? I wouldnt mind as i won it cheaply but this is the second time i have been duped over this smurf. :-? After i had a little did around on his actions i descoverd that the phos he is using art his own he has taken them directly out of the collectors catolog ans super imposed them on to a blue back ground. :-? :-? :angry:I eventuly sorted out a re fund. But it was just so much hasle. I have been talking to others about this and they have said i am right for moaning but i just wanted to know that i wasnot in the wrong over the matter. :D
There i feel much better now iv had a good moan 8-) 8-) 8-)
good luck with sorting it out though Dyer :D
Smurfy regards, Steve. :D

ARGH.. I hate sellers that over charge on postage, it is such a rip off. If they want more money for there auctions they should list it higher or put a reserve on them. Nothing wrong with handling charges as long as they are justified (like haveing to buy special packing material) But to stick things into a bag and ship as is... those sellers should be strung by there toes on the nearest tree... What is really sad is that these sellers can get away with it because ebay only goes after sellers who sell larger amount items, not cheap things. But we all know how much a couple smurf auctions can net a seller...

Hi guys, :wave2:

Andrew & Steve, sorry to hear you have both had these problems.

Unfortunately the problem of overcharging for shipping does seem to be getting worse. Maybe this is due to sellers being unhappy at the price their items are selling for but this really is no excuse. As already mentioned, this is the nature of Ebay and auctions as a general. Sellers have options like starting at a higher price or using a reserve but to go adding silly shipping charges is unfair and just wrong really. :x

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Hi all,

Problem sellers. Just look at the feedback I was given after asking why I paid $ 25,- and it was send for $12,15. Of course no reply at my request and when I gave him a mild neutral feedback I received this.

I was  :argue: :x at first but now, after a  I wear this feedback proud and hope it shows potential buyers that I do not overcharge on postage.

Personally I notice more and more U.S. sellers using this tactique for upping the price.
For my biggest problem with German sellers please search for smurf and world cup and find the first 'original' aussie soccer Smurf. :-P
But let me also say that over the past five years on ebay I met faaaaar more :D German sellers and buyers than  German sellers and buyers! And I Realize the problem isn't solely ebay.de, but the boom of these type of Smurfs came after this ebay joined the group.

Dennis

And now I will go and :sofa:

Hi Attom,

Thanks, but you can imagine it is very irritating to get your second negative feedback like this in 5 years.

The support is appreciated :D

Dennis.

Hi Lucie,
I would be cranky too. Thats how much I paid for mine to be sent airmail, well packaged in a box to Australia. If it costs £4 to get to here it must cost lots less to get to you!

I knew I wasn't alone with problems and I hope to get these 2 sorted out pretty quickly.

There are some horror stories below my post and I guess the more we buy the more we will come across difficult sellers. I am so used to having such great delas with people in Germany as they seem like some of the friendliest people in the world and have been a pleasure to deal with so it's a shame I have come across these 2 who are making things harder than they actually are. I haven't received neg feedback yet but it's probably only because I decided to avoid leaving feedback altogether than telling a couple of sellers what I really thought about their practices. However this only happens once in a blue moon and I have faith that 99% of sellers out there are honest and reliable ones. There will always be ones around the world that will try things and I guess there's not much we can do besides try to stand up and say this is wrong.

I hope everyone here avoids having the same problems again but I have found smurf sellers to be some of the best people in the world so it's not enough to turn me off buying more.....not even Mrs Dyar has managed to do that yet. :D

Hi Dyar, just a thought. We got charged for sending a bank transfer and the seller got their money minus a handling fee . Do you think the same may have hapened here ??? May explain the seller saying they hadnt got their money ?? Mind you we were sending from a different country so it may not apply in this case :D Lucie

I didn't know that could happen

However I doubt it was the case with my seller. I had a friend who did the bank transfer from within Germany and he filed a "non paying bidder" within 2 days of her sending the payment so I think it was just a matter of him waiting an extra day or 2 for it to show up....either that or he gave us incorrect details

I will let you guys know how it ends up and whether or not I get a neg for my troubles. :argue:
