You will have to let us know what happens. i Think while you are there you should try and find out why she has to charge so much for the postage. I have just paid for a lot of 13 figures and in total it came to 9.25 USD shipping and thats for airmail from there to here in the UK i think this is a good rate! I think it is weird how they work there postages some times. :-? :-? Keep us posted. :D

INSERT EVIL LAUGH ICON HERE

She backed down.. once I told her I could drive up there she said it is ridiculouse for me to spend 3 hours on the road to pick them up. So she gave me a shipping discount.. still more than it will be, but ALOT less than she wanted  I'm happy!!!!! Wont buy from her again. Be warned fellow smurfers she has more smurfs for sale and will pull the same crap again. I wont post her name, but if someone wants it pm me.

I hate that when it happens. The seller starts the item at a low price to save money, item sells but for less than the seller wants, seller tries to suck every last penny out of the buyer to make up for the gamble of listing cheaply. SILLY SELLER!!!

Gerda, I'm coming with you for back up!!!!!!!!!

I think I'm afraid of what Gerda might of said if she drove down there :)

Glad to hear that you got a generous discount.....not......it's at least a better deal than what you started with. I can't believe that seller tried to charge you so much at the beginning. I just don't have the balls to rip people off on postage....I couldn't handle the guilt.

Hi Gerda, I am so glad you got this one sorted. :-D

It is such a shame there are sellers out there who think they can make money from postage costs.

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Hi Gerda, i agree ( as a seller too) that you should not pay, she is giving sellers a bad reputation and all bidders get suspicious each time they bid.I just send an old windmill MIB and packed that windmill in a bigger box and ship it airmail to Sweden for $ 23.00 ( almost weight 5 pounds).
You are right to hold to your decision. I got a few negative feedbacks for some reasons unbeivable ( in a lot of 42 smurfs one was dirty???)
Another one she gave me the feedback by error , aimed at another seller. but , she said, all sellers should have some neg feedbacks as ( she said,) no one perfect??? ebay would not remove that feedback. I do not like neg feedback but i do not lose sleep over them as i know in my conscience that i did not deserve them.
Not sure Syd if i agree 100% with your statement that boxes, filling ,wrapping tapes and trip to post office does not count, it all adds up.
I just add .50 cents to my starting prices.
I agree if you sell a few items but 100ss of them if a bit different.
Only 1 in 5000ss+ bidders have challenge my postal cost and i finally agree with him and charge the price he said it should be and i end up losing $ 4.27 on it. He never reply to my request to at least pay half the cost.
I do not make money on shipping as , myself, as a buyer do not like to be overcharged.
I was away for 2-3 weeks, moving, i am settling down now still struggling with the insurances here in Florida.

John - that is the absolute right thing to do -- adding your fees to the starting price...I like that about your auctions - people know you do not make any $$ on shipping - it is what it is :D

Well I add my packaging fees to my postage costs, because that's what they are supposed to be, postage, packaging and handling. But obviously it has to be reasonable. I can't afford to pay for the packaging, two labels, plastic bag for the smurf, etc. There would be no point selling on ebay if I didn't charge for these things. I normally undercharge if people are buying something of higher value though, I normally end up paying for some of the packaging. I think sometimes people forget that not everyone is selling their old stuff on there, where all the income is money in their pocket, when you are buying to resell then you have to be a bit more careful with packaging, etc. If I started shipping my stock in recycled jiffy bags people would soon complain.

What does irritate me is where UK sellers try to make you pay extra for insurance for one smurf. If you get a certificate of posting from the Post Office it is free for sellers to insure a parcel. The only thing a signature will protect against (what you get with paid for registered post) is chargebacks through paypal. I'm not being funny but if a seller can't risk a £3 chargeback through paypal occasionally then it's a bit daft. I don't know why they force customers to pay £0.65 extra for recorded delivery, to me that is really off!

Well what gets me is if someone sells to one buyer there supply cost is cut down so why should the buyer still pay for extra packing material that the seller wont even use. Like I told the seller too a small packing charge is understandable especially if extra material had to be bought to send the items in, but she did not get it.. Her biggerst complaint was that the item ended cheaply and I got a fair buying price so I had to pay extra.

Yes I agree. You only need one box or jiffy bag for a package, not ten times over.

Geez......I will make sure I stay a million miles away from that seller. I can just see you :banghead: until it hurts over the whole frustration of this deal. I can't believe that this is her attitude Gerda. Have you suggested she go see a Doc for her condition? If it wasn't a true story it would actually be hilarious.

Postby Gerda » Wed Oct 26, 2005 7:53 am
Actually it was getting a bit funny, the more she emailed the more crap came out of her mouth. I busted her on one thing because she said she lived in a small rural area miles from any post office and gas costs so much. so I check on where she lived and how far away the post office was and she only lived one mile from it right in the center of town. She also told me she has a business degree and knows exactly what she is doing   If you would see her auctions you would know she is mistaken on that too because I am sure a business degree would tell you how to present an item for better sale.. :) :) I don't have a degree and i know how to at least research what i is I am trying to sell to see the value of it so I dont' "give" something away.
I'm still awaiting my smurfs, I'm sure she will take her time in mailing them now that the profit is down for her, I wonder how fast I would have gotten the items if I paid the full shipping amount she wanted! :-?
