I can see that some supers are getting retired. Wonder if that means they'll soon be releasing some news ones :D , or that they just don't sell that good any more. :(

I am afraid it is more the second idea : it seems smurfs are not making such a profit to Schleich, if they remove 28 old figurines.
What will remain when all these smurfs will be retired ?

I was surprised so many are being retired. Though I wonder if they will release new movie Smurfs during 2016 to coincide with the 3rd movie.

So instead of 50 Smurfs being produced by Schleich each year has this been reduced to 40?

So many questions......

I am quite surprised as well and a bit disconcerted that so many are retired. On the other hand, it does make sense to retire the super smurfs...I am sure after all these years, everybody who wants them has them, and they are no longer selling.

There are rumors, that Schleich will release another set of smurfs in May of this year which is related to the movie, but since the movie doesn't come out until next year, I consider it a rumor only so far.

I do hope that with the movie coming out next year, we see a lot of new Schleich smurfs again which might make up for the huge amount of retired smurfs this year. :( :-?

Perhaps it was just me, but I often found it confusing when people were talking about smurfs being retired. So I decided to go onto the Schleich's website to get a better understanding of what they mean by the phrase - Collector's Items

We refer to figures which are no longer present in this year's product range as collector's items. These figures are no longer manufactured and supplied by us. As such, the figures which are still available in retail stores turn right into sought-after collector's items.
