Since I noticed they are shown on the belgian olympic site I think it is OK to show the pictures. I added them on my website with latest news.

One interesting thing you should check is that the pictures shown on the olympic site is different from the ones on the poster shown here. Could be variations of the boxes??? :-D  That would be great. It almost seems to be larger boxes??? With displaywindow??? :-? :D

It worked for me yesterday. Can't test it know since I am working. But it is a PDF-file so if you have software that opens other PDF-files I assume it should work??

Wonder if both boxes will be released or if one is just a prototype..

Promos are usually given out freely to people with a connection to the company that is promoted...I wonder if these boxes (that are on the Olympic team site) are given to the Olympic team and their families. :-?

It will be interesting to see how this pans out :-D

The boxes on the Schleich advert say it's a limited edition...Has anybody heard in what numbers these are being released? :D

This is the reply from Schleich UK that I Received.

* Schleich has no connections or indorsements to the Olympics.
* The Five Belgium Olympic Smurfs are special Schleich manifactured models that have been produced for the licence holder IMPS.
* As with the BASF Promotion Smurfs, Schleich will not be selling them.
* They are promotional items that will be assosiated with the Official Belgium Olympic team.
* They are producing 6000 of each item.
* We are not sure how IMPS will be distributing these special items

with 6 thousand a piece I'm hopeing these are not just handed out to the olympic team, no offense but I don't think there are that many athletes from belgium (kick me if i'm wrong) So i'm hoping that maybe these are a way to earn money and support for there team..
happily smurfing along

That makes sense, Pierre....thanks for checking into that :D

I agree with Gerda and think these will be sold to support the Belgium team...if so, I can see them being sold in the UK (where the Olympics take place) and in Belgium

I think it is like this if you read the pdf-file. The smurfs are just a few out of many merchandising items made for the belgian olympic team. So just like in all countries there will be items sold for the olympics in stores. In this case the PDF file tells us where they will be sold!! :o The smurfs will together with adidas items, pins, flags etc.., be sold in the belgian olympic shop( see picture). :-D

Is this still possible to get at this place or is it a future location for the belgium olympic shop??? :-?

It seems Pierre, you will be able to buy them in that shop in London during the olympics??

"Belgium has chosen Inner Temple to host its Olympic House at the London 2012 Games.

The Belgian National Olympic Committee signed the contract with The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, on Tuesday (7 June) and will take over the whole site for the duration of the Games, including the new Apex Temple Court Hotel.

Inner Temple commissioned EXP Sport in August 2010 to secure them a client specifically for the Games, and the venue expects to cater for more than 11,000 Belgian NOC guests for 17 days.

EXP Sport is a consultancy that facilitates major sponsorship arrangements with sporting organisations."

I guess some of our Belgian friends have to find out if and where the Belgian Olympic organisation ( Belgisch Olympisch en Interfederaal Comité (BOIC) ) will sell these special editions 20 days prior to the Olypics (release dat on poster being 7th of july).

Commercially it is a clever idea to add the cyclist: Everybody (should) know that Belgum is an extremely cyclist minded country, having very nice events of their own, as well as many great cyclist (lest just name Eddy Merckx but are many more).
(So 4 from 5 items are special editions of the new 2012 Olympic Sport Smurfs, the cyclist is a special edition of the Cyclist Super Smurf)

6000, 10.000? Different numbers I have seen from 2 different respected sources :)

It is interesting what you write about prototypes Maureen.

I am looking forward to see the boxes since as you say these pictures could just be prototypes also.

If you look at the smurfs they are also the pictures from the schleichcatalogue and these could actually also be different??? :-? I would love to see them painted in other colours matching the begium national team colours!! :-D   If I would order promos for Swedens national team I would want them in swedish team colours. :o
