I agree with Dyar. Once you get it completed which I hope it never really will. Meaning new stuff. It will probibly be one of the first sites I go to.I use two sites pretty much for any refrence I need. Dyar's and Gerda's. I do use others too at times.

One more thing...you are adding how rare or common an item is, which is great but always up for debate

However, since you are doing this, I would put some kind of explanation on the site that explains what you understand under rare, very rare, common-rare and so on.

For example..you are listing the conveyor belt as common-rare,..I personally would say it's rare because it was so hard for me to find...again it depends on the eye of the beholder..but if you put some kind of explanation out, those looking at your site may understand your rating system better.

What I mean is putting an explanation on the homepage that goes something like this (with your own definition)

Common - easily found in every store or on ebay or in collections
common - rare - can be found in stores or on ebay with some research
rare - hard to find
very rare - very hard to find, usually only the most dedicated collectors own this one

I think you get my drift?

i think the whole rare and not so rare depends on where you live. some things are easier to find in europe then in the states and vice versa

I agree with you both,

It is always hard to rate items, but I prefer to rate them like this compared to prices, since they changes so much over time.

I will put some kind of explanation regarding how I rate them.

And Maureen I always appritiate feedback and are willing to change how I rate them since this is hard to do. Regarding the conveyor belt I agree it maybe should be rated as rare. I write in the infomataion that I rate it as rare if the belt is in good condition.

I use the rating like this:

Very common
Common
Rare
Very rare

Then I also use Common-Rare and Rare-Common if it is somewhere in between common and rare. If common is first it is closer to common then rare etc.

For new collectors it could be good to have this information, but as you say it is hard to rate many items.

I will start the variationsthreads again soon and those will be very helpful in listing as many variations as possible.

And I have a pretty good idea when most variations can have been made, so I will write as much information as possible regarding them. But regarding rating them and also showing variations I will need help.

Tom in France told me I could use this picture when showing the brownish-red belt on the conveyor. Do any of you collectors have this colour on the belt?

Unfortunaly, I have currently only the green belt!
Like you said, it's very porous and therfore I flex it's not on the rolls.
I have seen the red tape only in the MAFI dealer catalog.

No i didn't bought them in a shop.
The seller knew what he was selling so.............. my pockets were empty after buying these.
But i still don't regret it.

Are the thickness the same?

I have never seen any like that before. As we have said before we have no idea if they were real or not. Maybe Schleich had plans on changing the material since it was not so good???

Regarding the ce stickers on your boxes.
When Schleich started using CE around 1990 they used a sticker without the barcode. This sticker can be found on boxes from early 90s. After this Schleich added a barcode on the boxes. This we can find on some of the boxes, like supersmurfboxes and largehouse boxes. They also added the barcode to the sticker. Most likely so they still could use the older boxes without having to make new ones.

So the boxes you have were most likely sold during the 90s.
