Hi guys,

since I am having one week off in mid June, plus there will be a very special Alicia Keys concert at the Royal Albert Hall and Manni's bday around the same date, I am seriously thinking about hanging out five days with Manni. Prob is that I haven't stayed longer than twelve hours there. Have you got any suggestions or recommendations there we could stay for decent prices, yet not to far away from a bus or tube station leading to Heaththrow?

I think Steve Parkes lives in London...hopefully he can recommend a nice place to stay :D.

It's been ages since I was in London, but I learned that you get what you pay for..meaning when we went to a low price hotel we got old sheets, holes in the wall, a dirty shower and so on, so we decided to spend a bit more on the hotel. That was 20 years ago though, so I am sure things have changed

Thanks Moey,

I definitely would avoid something like the easy.hotel. I want to find a decent 3* hotel.

When I was in London last (2007) I stayed at this 2 star hotel: http://www.reemhotel.com/

Room and toilet were very small, other wise it was nice and close to the subway (maybe about 5 min walk), KFC and convenience store (nice if you want to save on the expensive hotel breakfast, as they had fresh bread and pastries :D ). Price was also okay (not too expensive).
Thought not sure if it might be a good choice, since their calendar on the website for booking only goes up to 2008!

If you're only planning on having a place to sleep, you might want to consider easyHotel. I never tried them my self yet, but they don't look that bad and they're cheap.

PS - Oops, sorry, didn't saw that you had already excluded easyhotel out.

Hi Dom,

If you are working on a budget the Premier Inn hotels are cheap but clean

If you have a bit more to spend you could try these too:

I don't really know much about London hotels, as I don't usually stay in them :) It would be nice to catchup for a coffee if you have time on your visit :D
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

@Sandra: You needn't be sorry about recommending easy hotel, you know it's the least of my choices and it's really worse. Will check out the reem though. :D

@Thanks Steve for recommending Premier Inn. Will see, whether a fly and hotel combination offers some savings and yep it would be great to hang out for a coffee (and a tea for Manni) with you. :D

Hi Dom :hiya:

I agree that Premier Inn is a good budget choice, sometimes Ibis is good too, I often use these two chains.

London is near to me, it would be fab to meet up with you for a drink if we can!!

Oopps just realised my two links were the same..that will teach me to cut and paste..the Ibis should have been the second link, just like Cathy said :D

@Cathy: Thanks for recommending Premier Inn. However, since time will be much too short, we won't be able to leave London, but I really want to catch with you. So what are we supposed to do now? :-?

No problem! I would come to see you in London :-D I often go there for work, leisure etc.

So you just have to concentrate on finding fun things for you and Manni to see.

(oh - and the last time I went to the Royal Albert Hall - it was like a maze inside! Don't get lost...... :) :) )

@Cathy: I always wanted to be at the "Last Night of the Proms", but I was told it took years to get hold of the tickets. :(

But since I have become an Alicia Keys fan, I always wanted to see a piano only show and now that she's doing such a show at the RAH (in order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her first album, I'm thrilled!!!
