Hi everyone

WT arrived here in Okarben yesterday & I've taken some first photos. Just a quick piece of information concerning Okarben. Okarben, which is around 18km north of Frankfurt, is one of 7 villages which decided to become a town politically in the early 1970's. That saved a lot of costs - for example only one mayor instead of 7!! The villages have still kept their village character though which is great.

Here's WT meeting his new travelling partner Vanity WT. For those who don't know about Vanity WT, he was on a world tour & arrived at my house last Springtime. Unfortunately the weather was horrible at the time so I couldn't take any photos Then Mrs Tojo came up with the bright idea of completely renewing the kitchen (and I mean completely)

Anyway, along came Autumn & then Winter & I'd forgotten all about him....

Here's our house. If you look very carefully with a microscope you can see the 2 WT's on top of the gate

WT Vanity took WT upstairs to introduce him to some of the friends he's made during the past year...

A bottle of champagne was uncorked, Papa baked a cake & the smurfs had a party.

Even Clockwork Smurfette joined in

Next, WT was introduced to Giant Smurf who gave him a huge welcome

By the way, there are several mineral water springs in Karben. There used to be 4 companies which bottled & sold the water some of which was exported around the world. Sadly the last company closed in the 1980's as they weren't very profitable at the end. The water is now piped away to another factory in a neighbouring town (Bad Vilbel). One of the springs has been left running so that villagers can go there & fill up bottles of water for themselves - it doesn't taste very nice though as it has a high sulphur content

The bottles on the photo are from 3 of the companies that used to be here. The stoneware ones are from the 1880's / 1890's.
