Andre,
In my opinion, there are only six Waldbaur smurfs....I think the SCCIs letters are great and informative but are not faultless, and since they had close contacts with Scleich, I am not sure they are a good resource to anything related to Bully (but that's only my opinion).

Apparently, Nestle also used Bully smurfs as promotional smurfs ("raw ones") and I think the other smurfs may have been from Nestle. I don't have much information on it, but think it was Tine who brought this up a few years back.

And this quote also explains a lot of the raw Bully smurfs on the market
Lots of Bully figures were used for promotional targetss and during the annual event of the Gmünder Carneval, many of these figures were thrown in the audience. Amongst them, many smurfs and sniks, often unpainted or in the wrong colors.
I think, the soft material can be explained with this quote
Bullyland uses in its manufacture a newly-developed material created by its own research, and thus claims to be the only manufacturer in the world that uses neither dangerous phthalate softeners nor PVC for model and figurine production.

But Maureen,

it was only the early Bullysmurfs which were soft. And therefore the 6 Waldbaur-smurfs are intresting.

In my opinion these are also among the first Bullysmurfs made around 1975.

And since Bully had the exclusive rights for the sales in Germany, Kanada and Sweden etc. during my childhood I find this intresting.

I think I mentioned it before but the handcut Bully smurfs should also include Moon...I have this twice with the typical soft PVC and in colour variations. Not seen it in the original white colours but it must exist...

Maybe there are other handcut Bully out there?

I wonder why quack has no handcut amark as this was the FIRST Bully smurf...???

Damn Martin,

then I have to get one more!!

But the first 17 shown on Stefans 1974 bullyposter ( eventhough 6 of them was not possible to get before 1975 according to the poster, same as the Waldbauers), these are the only smurfs from Bully sold with only the peyomarking. These I believe I have now. But there also seems to be some of the Schleichmold-smurfs that Bully also made( soft material) with only the Peyo marking, like Papa, Prisoner, Brainy, etc. But my guess is that they could not have these on their posters for some reasons. In 1976 they started with the Schleichmolds and must have got some agreement with Schleich to use these and at this time the also added the handcut Bully-marking on some of their old molds and started with their own version of Smurfette and Astro and added 5 new ones with handcut marking.

And I agree that it is strange that they seemed to be adding this handcut marking on only some of the 17 first molds( I don´t think it mattered that the quack was the first mold in 1976, when they started with the handcut marking). Maybe they had other plans for some of the smurfs??? :-? I mean when you look at the Bullymolds Christy has?? But maybe it also could have something to do with that Peyo started his lawsuit against Bully 78, so they could have been some problems starting already 77??? :-? For example the handstand-smurf, it seems they never added a printed Bully marking on this???

Martin, could you email the picture of the astro and marking to me or post it here??

Martin, don´t worry.

You know there is a reason I wear eyeglasses. :o

And I usually don´t wear them when I am sitting in front of the computer, so everything is like a fog anyway.

Thanks for posting that image Christy, me want that diver too :gimme: (and the grey umbrella)
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.
