I'm not jealous and I'm not sulking.... :???:  Well, ok, maybe a little. Why oh why can't they come to the UK? :( I'm really happy for you guys over the pond but if smurfs can fly to the US from Europe why can't they cross a little itsy bitsy channel? They don't even have to get their feet wet now there's a tunnel! :) :)

I think the recent influx has to do with the movie coming out and Sony taking over the movie rights and pushing the advertising for the smurfs already.

Hopefully, as the release date gets closer in the UK, you will see the same influx :D

Good job Cool Smurf. Did you happen to look at the 50th anniversary Smurfs? My TRU has them on sale for $11.98.

Thanks, bwalters! 8)

I glanced at the 50th Anniversary Smurf for a few seconds, but I didn't really see what the price was.

I've found the new firefighter, chimneysweep and entire current sets, including the new "movie maker" smurfs (I can't remember the name right now), native american and anniversary! The managers let me keep the box displays as well (when I'm willing to buy the entire box...which I often do).
Also, of course, all the current releases out of the catalog besides the full sets.
If you're in the St. Louis, MO region, "Lagoona Magoo" stores in O'Fallon, IL, Edwardsville, IL and St. Louis Mills Mall on the Missouri side (Fergusson?) carry even a wider variety. The Lagoona Magoo in St. Louis Mills carries the best selection, along with houses and current Supers in the current Schleich catalog. I now know the managers of two of the stores very well from my current visits, and they've given me a lot of promo materials including posters. I still haven't put together my youtube film because of my heavy show schedule (over 100 shows in June and July alone), but once August hits and I have a two week break, I plan on filming and posting the film here. My collection has nearly doubled this year due to the area stores, ebay auctions and I still shop at Mushroomvillage.com if Pete has what I need. There was someone here with Waldbauers that offered them to me, but at the time I couldn't get them...but now I can easily. If you're her, please email me!
In my cartoon classes that I teach I show the kids how to draw a smurf...and with the movie coming out and the reruns on cable television, smurfs are more "retro hot" as one student put it than ever before!
Needless to say, I"ve had a great time "smurfing" lately when I'm working in the city and often go smurfing during lunch.

The Schleich PVCs are in a NJ Toys R Us near me - my local one still doesn't have them but this one had a box that was about a quarter full, so someone has been buying them. The check out lady let us take the display box too...we only bought 4 of the smurfs but were chatting to her and she said if we wanted to put the ones on the shelf and take the box, then to go ahead because all they do is throw them out :)

Wow Staci; I may have to try that. I wouldn't even mind just buying all of them to get it.
