On behalf of Manni, I'd like to thank you for your birthday wishes. Manni, my mum and me had a wonderful time at the annual book fair in the city of Duesseldorf (For more information go to
http://www.buecherbummel-auf-der-koe.de/standplan.html) with a coffee in the old part of the city and a great lunch at the local Maredo steakhouse in-between. (
http://www.maredo.de/) Whilst enjoying lunch, two people who were just sitting behind us, left the restaurant without paying their bills, leaving everything on table apart from the meat.
Manni found himself a great reprint of a French cartoon showing a half-naked giant woman, representing the city of Paris, who was washed and dressed by tiny gentlemen with the text reading "The cleaning of Paris". Since he has just started to grown on Art Deco and particular French mags of the 1910's to 1932 and bronze figurines, it really is a great addition and it just looks hilarious. Mum picked up a very lovely Africa book for her collection, whilst I was very happy to find some very lovely American and English paperback editions, e.g. A Thousand Splendid Suns,
Suite Francaise etc. for just 3 Euro each.
I also came across a very interesting interior book by Terence Conran, but it was too expensive for me and I was to afraid the seller, if he would sell me the book for almost half the price.
