Do you have a smurf that you want really really bad but for some reason you haven't gotten it yet?

For me it would be the Schimmel piano promo smurf. I know it's not the rarest smurf although it isn't easy to get either. There are at least two sellers that I know off that sell it, and even though it is my most wanted smurf, I have been holding out for it for a few years yet. Every year, I tell myself, this is the year I am going to get it, and then I get sidetracked.

The problem is...I really would like to get it with the box...and it is very rare with the box...or at least I think it is as I am not aware of anybody right now selling it with the box. So, if I find it, it probably will be too expensive for me to afford it.

There is another reason, why I haven't gotten it yet (without the box)...smurf collecting for me is not so much about checking my smurfs off a collector's wish list..but it's also about the hunt for this special item. The joy of the hunt for special smurfs is often about 75% the fun of collecting for me. I know once I get the Schimmel promo, I will be on :cloud9: but until then I enjoy dreaming of it

and yes.....I am telling myself..2009 is the year I will finally get this smurf :)

Do you have a smurf like this?

For me it's really a question of how much I'm willing to pay for a smurf. I would really like to own the other MERC / Commerzbank ice hockey keychain to go with the one I have.

The problem is that anything over 50€ is too expensive for me & I haven't seen one for less. That is the one smurf I'd love to own though.

The one that is most elusive to me is the Climber. I know it is out there but everytime I see it I either forget about it, or I get out bid on it. I am not sure why I don't have it even. I bought all the rest of that year in a set from MV. Not sure if they forgot to include it and I didn't notice. Or if I bought them a few at a time and missed that one. Most of the time when I search it on ebay its not even there. I have a few more that I would also like to have out there. But like most of us they are too expensive.

Mine is quite a common one but no matter how much I look, I can never find the smurfette cheerleader without the S on her shirt. And on the rare instances that I do, it's too obscenely priced for how common she should be. I have pretty much given up and just know I won't ever have her in my collection :???:

I have a list of my top 5 at any one time so it takes less long to find one. At the moment but in no particular order:

Baby in pink baby grow with blocks (not offical range)
Europe flag - light blue version
Original Scuba diver foot flat on floor (I'm thinking this will take the longest!)
Carnival with coloured lantern
Table Tennid with burgendy shirt

I didn't even know there was a cheerleader without the S :) :) It just goes to show how little I know about smurfs :o

I have a few that I hope to find someday:
the super smurf that has Gargamel in the box #40247
and quite a few of the Christmas ones and the two with the cones. Whenever I see a box of toys at a flea mkt. or yardsale I always cross my fingers!

I forgot anozther smurf I've been after for a long time - Smurf with the blue/white lolly that I think was only available in Australia. I saw one at the Brussels fair but I didn't have any pennies left. :banghead:

I've not seen one since (except in forum members' collections of course).

I've been wanting that Schimmel piano with box too Maureen for ages :) For me though it's not so much a smurf as a playset..the Astro playset. I just don't know why I haven't gotten it yet, there have been lots of opportunites for me to get it, but something else just seems to come up and I end up not getting it. I really must get one this year :D
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

For me it's the aerobic smurfette 2.0457. I still need patriot smurf and baseball smurfette too but the aerobic smurfette seems to be my nemesis. Strangely, now I've got so close to finishing my basic collection, I'm not in a hurry to complete it yet. :-? But then I've always been a strange one!

I still have a lot of smurfs to get before I have only one I really am after... Guess I need a couple more years to reach that point. :-?

I have probibly 200 or more that I don't have. Somewhere around 20 of the regular production. We all probibly have several that we don't have yet. The one that I paid the most for was my moon set. Then a couple of months later there was an auction on MV that had one missing the window for the door. That auction also included a windmill missing the windows, and three other playsets. I got it all for $100. I paid over $350 for the first moon set. It's not a matter of how many you have, just one that seems to elude you the most.

Even though there are still a lot of Smurfs I need, mainly from the late 80s - early 90s, I am always on the lookout for any Soccer Smurfs in different stripes. I have about 9 at the moment (2 are missing footballs) but I always get outbidded when the appear on Ebay

Oh that Schimmel Piano pest is definately one....so I know how you feel Moey. I came very close to getting it in 2004 in great coondition with the box and for some reason bought something else, now I will have to pay about double for what I could of got it for. :banghead: (me thinks let Moey buy it first and then visit Tennessee and take home a souvenir)

Over the years I have conquered many a smurf that became my "nemesis" (stolen your word Hilary).......for example:

Brainy with Yellow Glasses: Everyone was getting one of these except for me at one stage and I kept getting outbid. I finally got one in about 2004 and I now have a few of these guys and have sold at least one in the past......I guess as the old story goes....once you get one.....it's so easy to get 2 of the little buggers.

Historical Smurfs: Earlier on I could never win one of these guys no matter how hard I tried.......now I know they are not so difficult to get at all. :-?

Syd Smurf doing some housework: This has to be the most elusive smurf for me to find......I'm not sure it actually exists.

Maybe it's just me, but the Most elusive smurf for me is always the Next One, It;s almost like a trasure hunt to see where i will find the next one.

Praying smurfette. I have seen quite a few genuine ones go at OK prices a few times (between £15 - £22) and have stopped bidding, so I guess its more that I don't 'really, really want it' :)

Like Tojo, I dare say that most normals, historicals, specials, supers that I'm still missing are the ones that are very expensive.

I really want them, to complete my basics are

- Baseball Smurfette
- Red and Gold Surprise Bag
- XMas Wreath
- Xmas Candycane
- Benjamin Franklin
- Thomas Edison
- Christopher Columbus
- Cage (Had him as a child, but must have eventually lost him. Stupid me :banghead: )
- Gargamel in the Box (I was too afraid to buy him as a child. I always thought that Jokey must have executed him. Stupid me again. :banghead:)
- Piano Smurf

Like Tojo, I am unable to pay much for the items, but little by little, I might save up for some of them. I'm hoping for another big box like last year in Evergem, where I managed to find some very interesting smurfs for just 2 Euros each. Nevertheless, I still have to pick up the Hollywood Smurfs from Michelle, for I don't want to pay much for them here in my federal country and I'm also very much looking forward to finally getting my Baseball Smurfette, since I was cheated once.

:woohoo: :woohoo: I got my climber in the mail today. Now I have to come up with another Smurf that eludes me. The one that comes to mind is 29983 Hammer. I have not really tried to hard to get it. But if I see a auction with it in it I have put in bids but always lost.

Congratulations, Bill

I won't be getting my most elusive smurf for a long time. I just can't trust myself on ebay, because I usually end up buying something when I get on it...but how in the world was I able to say no to this? :o
