I received the brochure from the licensing fair today, and was excited to read about a few upcoming items. It seems they will be released mainly in Europe

The flyer mentions the AH promotion and the Kinder smurfs from Ferrero that will be released in October.
It also says :
- Henkel developed a program throughout Europe supporting the launch of the brand new smurf hair care products for kids
- Haribo, Delacre, Lannoo Graphics, Leaf are organisiong promotional activities related to the 50th anniversary in major supermarkets
- it mentions the Panini album being released in Belgium
- Vivartia in Greece will offer smurf premiums in the Goody's quick service restaurants
- it mentions the shirts from Inditex (Oysho Europe), Oviesse, and Jay Jays
- Leomil will release children footwear
- New smurf games are/will be realised by Upperdeck and Brio
- the new Smurf Pop CDs
- New Audio books will be first released in Germany, Norway and Sweden
- the first Smurf chocolate coins will be created
- he Belgian post office will bring out a smurf stamp in September, FOLLOWED BY A SMURF SILVER COIN MINTED BY THE ROYAL BEGIAN MINT
- it mentions the new PIxi, Leblon
- Delacre will design a smurf anniversary tin box

I think this all sounds very exciting :-D especially the tin box and the silver coin.

I am not sure if anybody noticed in the picture Gerda posted, but there is also a McDonald smurf house in it...which makes me hopeful that they will also jump on the band wagon :-D
Here is the picture again

I am too interested in the stamp and coin from Belgium, and the T-shirts have been released in Italy too, but I'm not going to pay 20 to 25 euros for a T-shirt.

As far as the picture is concerned, I believe it depicts past promo items, since I have that MCD box.

Coming October, I will try to collect the Kinder eggs surprises, even if it will be difficult because they will be released only in Germany.

Al, the licensing fair was in NYC :D

Paolo, that was my thought also, but most of the items pictured are items that were released this year for the anniversary :-?

The silver coin & the stamp both sound very interesting.

Yesterday evening Mrs Tojo gave me a leaflet which I think may be advertising the new smurf audio book cd's & cassettes. As she's a librarian she gets informed about new book releases etc. When I get home I'll have a closer look at it & slap it on my scanner so that I can post it here. I think there are 3 new audio books coming out.

Yeah, it is with the yellow wings... but that is from 1998.

Looks like October will be an expensive month!

Maybe they used an old picture because they hadn't finalised this year's stuff. Well let's hope so anyway, cos it all sounds very exciting! :-D :-D

Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

Here's the scan showing the 3 new audio books. The 50th anniversary logo isn't anywhere to be seen though which is a shame.

I think the whole purpose behind the leaflet is to get the american market interested in smurfs again by saying "hey look what we are doing in Europe" fingers and toes crossed that more things will pop up over here.. surely something must come of it especially with the dvd's out.

I keep hoping that they will. There wasn't a smurf promotion last year though so we'll just have to wait & see.

I received a belated birthday present yesterday from Mrs Tojo - the 3 cd audiobooks

Each one has 2 stories & each cd is 46 mins duration. These are the stories:

cd1
Das Buch, das alles sagt (the book that says everything)
Die unsichtbare Flöte (the invisible flute)

cd2
Die Wassersucher (the water seekers)
Jokey's Reise (Jokey's journey)

cd3
Die wundervolle Pflanze (the wonderful/amazing plant)
Die Schlümpfe in der Mine (the smurfs in the mine)

Here's the official German link about the cd's. It says these are the 1st smurf audiobooks for 30 years!

http://www.schlumpf-die-ohren.de/hoerspiele/

I haven't listened to them yet though.... That's something to look forward to.
