Hello everyone,

I've been out of the loop since having a baby in November and I wasn't sure if anyone posted information about the Smurfs being released on DVD's. I was in Suncoast Video today and they were taking pre-orders for the smurfs with a release date of 2/28/08. I'm sure this is the first kickoff to the movie that will be coming out.....

Thanks for all the well wishes! We named her Claire Ann Doherty. She weighed in at 8lbs 7oz and sports smurfy blue eyes!

Rachel I think i saw a list of episodes on here earlier and they mentioned "The Smurfette" episode on Disc 1 which we haven't had on the Australian set. That was one episode I was really hoping to see

The Australian releases have stopped. Volume 9 was the last DVD released about 2 yrs ago. I think the company may have lost the rights. Not sure. With the Australian releases the episodes were random. They skipped eps and they were all out of order. When I spoke to someone at the DVD company they said that they released the volumes on what they were given (from I.M.P.S).

The American release I'm really disappointed that they haven't packaged the season as a complete season one boxset. They will release them in volumes. Each set containing 2 discs. The episodes are still out of order on the American release as well, that disappoints me. 19 eps of 39 + the Springtime Special (40 total for the season). The episodes are digitally remastered, that is a plus. The Australian release wasn't remastered. I'll probably import the American sets at some point as long as they keep releasing the seasons. This first volume includes the 3 episodes from season one that were skipped and never released on the Australian volumes. Like Raelene mentioned, The Smurfette episode is one of those.

I have seen a couple of stores around me that have the DVD available for pre-order as well. I think I'll just go to the stores on February 26 and buy it instead of pre-ordering. If anyone would like one, please PM me and let me know.
