Hi guys, I am thinking towards next weekend when we are planning to start putting up our Christmas decorations. In the past I have decorated a small tree with smurfs but it has been kept in the smurf room the last couple of years. I thought it might be nice this year to dedicate a shelf somewhere to some Christmas smurfs and smurfy items. ;-)

Is anyone else planning on using smurfs as part of their decorations? :-D

I usually hang some of the Christmas smurfs on our tree but I have to be careful that they aren't in the way of dripping candle wax  We have electric lights on our tree but also real candles which tend to drip, drip, drip.....

I am not really sure what I will do this year...The past 10 years or so I decorated everything Christmassy the day after Thanksgiving but this year I didn't even feel well enough to care.

I have given it a few thoughts though and think I will dispense with the tree this year (first time in my life) as I really don't know what Mogli will do it with (or actually I have a very good idea what he will do with it  )

A Christmas display on a shelf sounds like a great idea and I will most definitly look into that :D

I had a Christmas village last year under the tree with smurfs and the Christmas village houses and I loved it...but that won't work this year either...maybe next year though :-D

Sammy, our Jack Russel had a lot of fun with our tree last year  He was only 2 1/2 months old & loved trying to pull all the decorations down - in the end we had everything on the top part & next to nothing lower down :) Now he's much bigger so I don't know what will happen to the tree this year

I used to set my xmas smurfs on my shelfs when I was back home living with my parents. But no xmas smurfs displays here I'm affraid. Don't have any xmas smurfs here - well, ok I just won 1 yesterday ;)

Might take a look, once my smurf vitrine is up and smurfs are places in their right place - as I really have to type _over_ them already. :)

I might try and get hold of a small tree, like 30 cm tall or around that size and hang my 6 ceramic christmas stocking smurfs on it :-D

I don't have to worry about small kids (well yet anyway) or crazy dogs or cats trashing my tree :)

This year I don't have any puddy cats to worry about. So, I will probably display all my Christmas smurfs in the living room - I have the xmas figures and a couple of ceramics! I love the idea of making a Christmas scene on a shelf.

It would be great if forum members posted pics of their Xmas smurfy displays. :-D

One of my cats (Chipper - a lovely grey and white girly!) use to climb up the Christmas tree and pull the whole thing down. Those were the days!! :)

Actually I don't use anymore to put Christmas lights on.
I used to decorate a tree when I was younger but now it's too much of an effort to put them up and then to have to put them down after one month.

When I was in the US there were lots of houses in the street where I lived who decorated their front driveways with plenty of lights not only at Christmas but also for Valentine's day, St. Patrick's day, ... and the day that the University of Maryland won the NCAA tournament!

You will always see smurfs in our X-mastree! I'm totally crazy...I can't do anything about it!

OMG!!! I had forgotten what it is like to have kittens in the house with Christmas decs up. :)

I think we are going to have fun in our house this year as Smoogle and Chitter have definitely found their feet and are tearing around the place like nutters!

I have one shelf dedicated to the ceramic christmas decorations and that stays up year round so I guess I have decorations up all the time. I normally try to do something non smurfy for christmas just to break the routine. I will actually be taking down some smurf items just to make room for a tree so I guess I do things backwards! :???: :???:

Well, my little 7 or 8 month old monster was very well behaved this weekend...but I guess me being gone for 13 hours today was just too boring, so when I came home I found the bathroom rug in the hallway and the litter box sand all over the bathroom floor :x :banghead:
At least I didn't find any smurfs in between so that is an improvement, me thinks...

However, I start working 11 hours next week for about six weeks and I am gone for 13 hours each day at least, so I don't think I will have a Christmas tree this year..there is no telling what Monster Mogli will do when he is left alone that long with a tree in the house from which smurfs are hanging down  ...I might even end up being homeless :)
