Does any one else get fed up with receiving grubby, dirty smurfs from sellers? I know I do!
It's happened on various occasions to me, and each time, all it's taken is a quick wash of the smurf to bring him back to his original lovely self. :)
Whenever, I sell smurfs, I always make sure that they are in the best condition possible.

What do others think? Am I being too anal? :)

Geez, Duckie, I love getting dirty grubby smurfs! You are just too anal

Ok, did that come across as sarcastic enough or does it lose something in the typed word?? I agree with you -- whenever I resell smurfs, I normally clean them or at least they are as clean as I can get them without scrubbing the paint off them.

I hate this too, I especially hate when smurfs arrive covered in smoke, Not being a smoker myself I really notice when smoke is on something, I received smurfs not too long ago like this and they where really really bad, so much so I could barely be around them.

Another pet peeve of mine is when sellers throw smurfs that they have described as very good to good condition into a box or envelope with no padding or protection what so ever leaving them rubbed from the trip. Ebay should allow for this type of behavior on the feedback but instead you can fill in how was the sellers comunication.. I for one could care less if they comunicate with me or not (espcially if something is being mailed from a foreign country where I don't understand them anyway) but a sellers carelessness or disregard of what they are selling is something you should be able to coment on.. oops I went a bit off topic here (sorry for my train of though... guess the train derailed a bit) :backtotopic:

I use the "is item as described" for cases like this... :-?

Frankly it depends how much I spent on the smurfs...If I get them very cheap I don't care, I wash them myself and check the markings and colors while doing it...however, if I get an expensive one it better be in good condition :)

I expect some to be grubby, but I know exactly what you mean Sharon..I hate it when they look like they need a good bath..I have just purchased some Remove Zit and it worked wonders on my smurfs..it brought out the ballpoint pen on my wreath smurf and now you can hardly tell it was ever there.

I agree with you also Gerda, I hate it when a smurf you've spent lots of euros on comes in nothing more than a single folded envelope :(
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

Don't like it also, doesn't take that long to give them a quick wash.
Though, it was a nice suprise when I got the King and washed him. He was in a lot better condition than I inicialy thought from the picture. :-D Maybe why I got him so cheaper, others looked at the picture and didn't bother to bid on him. ;)

I haven't had a problem with bad packing yet. :) Usualy always bubble envelope, and them they're individualy packet in paper or bubble plastic.
Only problem with that, if that one gets a lot of "trash" to throw away.

Guess I'm the only one who likes my smurfs dirty then :-? :) :bath:

:iagree: I'm with you on this one Gerda, and it seems pretty much impossible to remove the smell from them

If we're talking ebay sellers the ones I steer clear from most are the ones whose description is 'see photo' - yeah I see a small, blurred smurf from one angle :crazyangry:

:cheerz: to the weekend :D

Good thing Syd is not around to hear that Sue...he would be sealing his envelope addressed to you right this second.

I don't like receiving dirty smurfs that are just filthy and yucket. I have a few in an envelope right now from a few weeks ago that need a good bath with a toothbrush when I have the time.....Lucie will be so proud of me.

As for packaging....I also hate receiving loose smurfs unprotected especially when paying just as much for the handling and packaging as I do on the postage

I prefer my smurfs to be clean when they arrive, but that's a bit daft really as I always give them a good soapy bath before sorting them & noting their markings anyway :o :-?

I suppose I feel that if they're clean they must have come from a good home & had a happy smurfhood :-D

I always think that if I get a dirty and grubby smurf - it's less likely to have been painted/tampered/touched-up with.

I've bid on some horrible looking smurfs that have cleaned up brilliantly :D

I also have a couple of opinions. On one hand, it is lovely to have a mint, clean, freash smurf arrive, epecially when that is how it has been described or if it has broken the bank. But, on the other hand, there is a good deal of satisfaction when a grubby smurf which looks in a pretty bad shape cleans up good with a bit of soap and water. Often, if I have bought a large lot, this has been the case and it is lovely to know that without the dust and grime, there is a beautiful smurf waiting to be reborn. :-D

I could not have put it better myself. I must admit, I have had great satisfaction when I have washed a smurf and found a near mint smurf under all the grime.

"Must of come from a Happy Smurfhood"......."it is lovely to know that without the dust and grime, there is a beautiful smurf waiting to be reborn"

Aww....Tojo and Rach are almost getting poetic about our little blue guys (and girls...sorry, have just watched "Life of Brian" again today).....maybe I should say something clever too that is relevant, charming, eloquent and classy.........um

I love when I get a smurf that is all dirty, grubby and almost impossible to clean. I just hang them down in the toilet bowl for a few days and after 20 or so flushes over the next couple of days I find the smurfs (sometimes) are a hell of a lot cleaner.............or not..........in which case I just offer them to Moey for a trade.

Rachel,
Do you now have enough reason to ban Dyar? I mean offering me yellowed or brownish smurfs is really unpardonable....They might poison poor Mogli  :( :(

I agree Moey, Dyar has stepped over the line this time. He should NOT be putting smurfs down the toilet full stop. His punishment is 3 weeks ban from all use of carrots and anything else orange that moves. :D

However, Mogli's obviously out of control now if he would even consider messing with a "toilet drowned" smurf so I am afraid you are going to have to serve a punishment too. No Ebay for you for the next week young lady. :naughtysmurf:
