Are these two sign bearers considered promos? If so, promo for what? (well the sockel is probably self explanatory)

and What does the Sockel say and what does the sign of the sign bearer without the sockel say?

I really feel stupid for asking this but I am no good at Spanish yet and never paid much attention to either of those two smurfs...until I got them in the mail

and is the second one rare? I haven't seen it on ebay yet (didn't get it from ebay) but it seems to be a normal signbearer just with a different sign...

Hi, Maureen!!!!!!!!I have some info for you about some of these two and some other "spanish" smurfs...Here you are:

Nr 230, 231, 232, 233 and 237 are not written in
spanish...This language is catalonian, a language
spoken in a part of Spain, Catalonia (the main city in
this region is Brcelona)

- nr 230: "I love CDC"...CDC is a political
formation in Catalonia: Convergencia Democrática de
Cataluña
- nr 231: "We are a nation"...I think this promo
smurf has been made by the same political
formation...Catalonia is a part of Spain, but there
are lots of people that want that Catalonia will be
independent of Spain...
-nr 232: LOAPA is a spanish law from 1982...Ley
Orgánica de Armonización del Proceso Autonómico:
Organic Law of Reconciliation of Autonomic
Process...This law did not favor the independendist
pretension of this political formation, so I think the
message in the poster is something as "I don´t love
LOAPA" ( the meal in the poster is one of the typical
meals in Catalonia called "butifarra")
-nr 233: Convergencia i Unió is the union of two
political formation: Convergencia Democrática de
Cataluña (CDC) and Unión Democrática de Cataluña
(UDC).The poster says: Convergencia i Unió, we are a
lot but in agrrement...
-nr 237: it means "happy birthday"

Nr 234 is the only one written in spanish, and it
means Merry Christmas

I have my own theory about these smurfs...Catalonia is
the spanish region nearest of the rest of
Europe...They have been always the most advanced
people, and I would say the most european. Smurfs were
popular in middle 80 in Spain...In 1982 we had the
first political change, after 8 years with a right
government after a dictatorship of more than 35
years...In 1982 the socialists won the
elections...What I mean is that 1982 was a very
important year with lots of change...The political
formations in Catalonia used smurfs owed their
popularity (in catalonia, smurfs are called
barrufets)...I never have seen one of this smurf where
I live (south of Spain)...I suppose they were
ditributed btw the members of CDC and UDC (CIU)

I would say this is the only time smurf have been used
with political purpose...


And the sockels 147, 148 and 149 are similar: they are a souvenir from three different regions of Spain: Andalucia (where I live), Cataluña, and Euskadi...The 1st one is written in spanish, and the two others are wrtitten in languages that are spoken in those two regions: catalonian and euskera.Basically they are the same: a souvenir that say: "Souvenir of a stay in Andalucia/Catalunya/Euskadi...

You are right, Graham...Euskadi (the basques) are northern of Spain...It is a very lovely region, but there is a big problem there: the terrorism...Thousands and thousands of basques want to live in peace (some of them want to be independient of Spain, and some other do not, but peace is the most important) but only a few of them want the independence with blood

I live in the south of Spain, the hottest region!!!!!!!!

if he says Merry Christmas, that wouldn't be considered a promo smurf would it??? I am confused because the DSK lists him among the promos, but shouldn't he be listed with the Christmas smurfs?

The feliz Navidad is usually considered a promo Maureen as is the feliz aniversari, not sure why
