Many people here have used printed Smurfy scenes as backgrouds for their photos. Are there many different types of such images? I know I've seen small cards and larger folded sceneries. If anyone has pictures or scans of these, I'd really like to see them!

I found one nice picture in a Smurf sticker activity book (sized 16x69cm). I scanned the scene at high resolution, compiled it back into one image and scaled to ~113x30cm so I can use as a background image in my display shelves. If there was another one, similar but not identical, I could have a different image in each shelf. So, if you happen have the same activity book with a different picture, please let me know!

Hi Maureen!
This picture seems to be (a modified) part of the picture I posted above ;). It made me realize that the left side of the image matches with the right side so it can be repeated endlessly ;) So thanks!

Hi Pauli, sorry I don't think I have any activity books but I love your idea of using pics like this as backgrounds to your shelves. I am sure they will look fantastic. :-D

I have the same image as Maureen, these are actually sold as backgrounds for dioramas and are made of cardboard to stand up. I can measure mine if you like to give you an idea of size. :D

I don't need exact measures, just an approximation :D . So is it about an A4 when folded up or clearly larger? Where were these sold, do you know?

Hi Paul
Mine is also like Maureens and Rachels . I think it is a wonderful idea that you are going to use the picture in your display .
I also do not have any of the Smurf sticker activity books .
Do you have a picture of the book it came out of ??

Hi Pauli,
it's a bit nearly twice the size of A4 when folded up..You actually fold it up as shown on the picture and it stands on it's own since it is made of cardboard. I put a Smurf comic book on it so you can see the size.... :D

I didn't find anything that measures in cm in my place, so I did the next best thing in my opinion :) :) :)

Great pics Mo. :cheerz:

The background is 40cm x 100cm Pauli although I do like Maureen's way of measuring better, very smurfy. :-D

I got mine from Timeless Trinkets a few years ago. :D

Thanks for your replies :D! That scene was much bigger than I thought (in cms as well as in Smurf scale). I got the prints done today and they turned out just absolutely perfect. The colours are saturated and clean and the pictures fit just as I planned. I used the thickest paper the digipress could force into their machines to keep the backgrounds nice and firm.

Unfortunately I could not get proper pictures to show the outcome as a whole. These are only closeups because I couldn't use the flash and all pictures take from further away ended up totally out of focus without additional lighting. Which reminds me, you can also see the new tiny display lights there.

I'll post better photos later at some point

Oh Pauli, those backgrounds have come out great. :adore: :clap2: :adore:

I think they really show the smurfs and accessories and playsets off just perfectly. What a great idea that was. :-D

The lights finish it off all so well too.

Even hubby has just said how fab they look.

A great job done there. Respect. :hi5:

I was amazed myself how well the colours of the background match with the toys! Maybe because the image was Smurf-related art to start with :) This is the kind of art I like to hang on our wall. Thanks to Peyo (or whoever drew this version)

I have three panels of backgrounds that came within a tubular container and are completely movable in the sense that the right end of each panel matches exacly with the left end of the others, so you can make your own sceneries as you prefer. And in the same container there are also 30 removable puffy stickers called Removelli. They are original Italian products and very rare to be found.

This is the auction image. I have them at home so it will take some time to take detailed pictures of them, since I will be back home in two weeks.

Hi Paolo, those backgrounds look great too. :-D

I don't think I have seen these before but I love the idea that they will match each other at the ends so they can be used in different ways. Thanks for showing these to us and I will look forward to seeing more pics of them when you return home.

Thanks. :thanks2:

Putting smurfy scenery at the back of your cupboards is a great idea :D

I'd contemplated doing that too but haven't got any of the backgrounds unfortunately. It's interesting that hey seem to 'wrap around' too.

btw. you've got an incredible collection.
