:snowflake: We have had lots and lots and lots of snow overnight. :snowflake: Yet again the road in area of our house(you'll know where I mean Dyar!) was full of kids playing :snowflake: and building snowmen at 7 am!!! :frosty: We have had a fun morning as, in typical British style, no one is prepared for the change in weather so schools are shut! :snowflake: We took Jessica and Frederick to a nearby field with their little cousin and had great fun sledging! :snowflake:
Was even better though to come home and defrost with a nice mug of hot chocolate :tea:

:snowing: :snowing: :snowing: :snowing: :snowing:

Oh and to top a fun day off...whilst I am writing this the postie has just delivered 2 smurf with mushroom variations :mail:

Great pics Christy, I love the one with you and Duplo but they are all lovely to see. :-D

Well, I ended up having a very interesting day...........

I was listening to the local radio station this morning hoping to hear that my schools had been closed but unfortunately very few schools were closed and it turned out that even though we had snow, most of the area where I teach had not. :???:

For the first time ever, I decided to give the station a ring to tell them that our village had in fact had quite a bit of snow as they were reporting that no where around had had much snow and were sounding very disappointed.

I was extremely suprised that firstly anyone actually answered my call and then even more suprised when they asked if they could ring me back in a few minutes to talk to me live on air. A few minutes later, they did indeed ring back and I had a great conversation with the two DJ's about how much snow we had and they even got me to walk around in it holding my phone near my feet so they could hear the crunching snow! They were both really nice and we had a laugh at the fact that I was working just around the corner from where the radio station is and that there was no snow there at all. They even mentioned me bringing them some snow and I jokingly said I would throw a snowball at them as I passed.

Anyway, as I was clearing the car Rich mentioned that I should fill up our cooler box with snow and deliver it to them. Bearing in mind, I had never even dared to phone in before now, I thought this might be a bit mad. I did though fill the box, stuck it in the car and thought I would have a think about it as I drove to work.

The drive to work was quite strange because where we live was completely white and the roads were a bit tricky but within 15 minutes of driving down the valley, there was no snow to be seen.

As I got to the place where my first school is and the radio station is situated, I thought "what the hell" and went to the radio station complete with my cooler box full of snow. I had no idea what would happen when I got there but my general thought was that I would see the receptionist, dump the snow somewhere and scoot off to school.

In fact, I ended up in the actual studio with the two DJ's and did another little live slot explaining how much snow we had and where I was from. They both thought it was brilliant and were really chuffed that I had turned up.

As I was about to leave after having a little chat with them, I mentioned that I was a smurf collector and would there be any chance of them mentioning Blue Imps at some point to see if any listeners had smurfs looking for a new home. We then had another great chat, this time about smurfs and it turns out that one of the DJs' husbands lived in Belgium for a while and was at the time really into smurfs.

They seemed really interested and have asked if it okay to give me a ring tomorrow morning so they can chat to me live on air about smurfs!

We will have to wait and see if they do get back to me but at least I have given it a go. :fingersx:

Our camera ran out of batteries but here are a couple of pics of this morning's snow and the a pic of what our garden looked like this afternoon when I got home from work. :D

Hi, it is called The Wave, here is their website: http://www.thewave.co.uk/

I think they do broadcast live on there but only in the UK. :D

If I do find out I am on, I will of course let you all know. :-D

Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

What a day Rach!! Grat stuff - you didn't wreck their studio with your snow then!!

We had a few inches. I drive a rear wheel drive coupe that made my drive to work somewhat interesting. There were still some people that didn't turn up :-?

Let us know what they say on air about smurfies!!

Fantastic pictures Christy & Rachel :D

And what a laugh that must have been Rachel, first being inteviewed on the air & then visiting the studio :) It would be brilliant if they do call you back about your smurfs :-D

Our snow has gone already as it's too mild here at the moment. We've had some more sleet but otherwise nothing very wintery.

I can just imagine Dyar going out in the snow wrapped up in so many clothes that he can't move & then sticking his fingers in the snow & running back indoors again due to the shock of the snow being so cold :)

Take care everyone

Wow, you're a radio star 8)

Well done Rachel, it was worth your while taking the snow into them.
I'm glad you managed to slip smurfs into the conversation :-D

Thanks for the pics of the snow around your garden as well, it's always lovely to see :D

On the news this morning they were showing how much snow all you guys got in Wales and said that some schools were closed. I think I would be too scared driving around in the snow and on slippery roads :scared:
:winks: Raelene

Snowing again here too. In fact it is worse than yesterday and all my schools have been shut. :snowing: :joy:

Nothing more from the radio station so we will have to see. I suppose I could always send them a couple of smurfs in a week or two to jog their memories. :D
