My Big Concert

Hi all, I just wanted to say a big Thank You to all those you sent me wishes of luck for my concert last night.

It went really well with an audience of over 900. The concert started with a huge junior orchestra of over 250 kids. The fact they all got on stage and off again without a hitch is a success in itself, a real military operation!

Other groups then played and towards the end of the concert it was my turn to conduct my two pieces. This year I REALLY enjoyed the experience as I did not get nervous at all and the orchestra played really well so even though it had been a very long day and my feet were killing me, I got home a very happy bunny.

I did ask a friend to try and take some pics but I think she must have gone to the bar in the interval as they didn't turn out too well but I will post a pic or two to give you an idea. :D

Happy to hear you had a great concert

Was there a particular theme or reason for it ? Was it an Easter thing?

Well done Rach...I know just how difficult that is!!! I don't think I've ever pulled off a concert like that without at least one bow being dropped and broken or strings breaking!!!

Congrats on the conducting!!! What pieces did you conduct? I really enjoy conducting...don't get as much opportunity to do it these days though :(

Well done!!! All the stress and nerves are worth it in the end when all those players come together and make wonderful music!!! :D

Hi Sue, this was our big annual concert where all the big ensembles play. We do smaller concerts throughout the year but this is the one where all the big wigs get invited to. :D

Thanks Renee. :)

Yep, no broken strings, no bridges flying off and not even a dropped bow with the younger ones which is a miracle. I think that is a first as I am normally busy with my tool box just before the concert.

I also love conducting and this year my pieces were Con Te Partiro and Mission Impossible but the strings also performed the Suk Serenade and the waltz from Tchaik Serenade and the finale for the concert was the last movement of Shostakovich 5! Next term, some Mozart for me. :-D

Is that you in the black in the second pic?
Hi Rae, yep that is me. My suit is actually a purple colour but the pic is just sooooo bad.
