Wow, I looked at Graham's smurf village off the web and thought it looked pretty good, especially the stuff used for grass (what is it?)

But, hey, are gabled, walk-in attics the norm in Europe? On the Playmobil site, half the people with displays have them in their attic, with the walls slanting up and together (gabled?).

American houses mostly don't have attics any more (we had a huge attic in a 1920s house in Ohio, but even then the ceiling slant was much more gradual). The space near the ceiling nowadays are crawl-in places for boxes or insulation. The slope of the ceiling is usually disguised from the inside of the house.

Hi Tim ! I use alot of model railway scenic accessories for my village, i have plans to make it larger as i have space in the attic to do so ! Maybe this summer i will get around to doing it, but not all houses now are built with a decent space in the attic because of the way they are built now ! If you need any help getting any stuff, PM me, but the stuff i use is ideal for Playmobil too

Hi Tim, just to follow on, i forgot to say, in the UK, older houses usually have good attic space, the new ones, none at all I have one of the older houses Lucky for me ! YAY !

Funnily enough, I asked him a few days ago what he was using as a floor cover for his displays as I thought it looked very cool.

We have a large attic too & a large cellar as well. Our house was built in 1927 & I love it. The rooms are high so it's rarely stuffy.

I heard it was called "Timbuckdrewtu" but that could just be the Liverpudlian accent
