I noticed in recent times there has been a bit of chatter around this forum about a certain entertainer we know as Barry Mannilow....Baz.

I saw an intro by UK TV identity Jonathan Ross tonight that I thought was rather amusing. This is how the show started:

"You know the longest I’ve ever been waiting for an interviewee was the time Madonna, had me pacing up and down for 2 full hours while she put on the finishing touches to her make up........of course

Tom Jones had me wait for 1 hour and 15 minutes once, but then, he was stuck in traffic, which is a legitimate excuse

Barry Mannilow.......Barry Mannilow was 15 minutes early, which lets face it, is just desperate."

I know this isn't relevant to much in the world but I thought that was a funny intro to a show.

But as you know Rae....they can't scare away juvenile delinquents in Australia without Barry blasting through the speakers either

To be honest, the first concert went to was one of the earliest of the Backstreet Boys in November 1995. :oopz: I certainly was punished, since one girl stole my raincoat.
But I wasn't much into them. I only liked their first album :)

yeah sorry Graham.....NKOTB :D

Are there any artists that when you were younger you just couldn't stand?

I couldn't stand Mick Jagger or David Bowie when I was around 10-11 years old......so when they recorded Dancing In The Street together I remember thinking..."oh brilliant...that's just bloody marvellous isn't it?"

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I did grow to really like them a year or 2 after that but I just couldn't stand those two as a kid.

I am more into hating pop groups now who re-release an old hit knowing it will be a winner for them ! They cant make songs of their own anymore! :banghead:

@Dyar: Being 13, I made some jokes about Jean-Michel Jarre wearing a "zebra suit". I thought it looked just queer. Only four years later, I noticed that one tune I heard on the wire was "Equinoxe V" and that was him!!! :)

@Graham: I quite agree with you. :) There are hardly any good cover versions, but in r'n'b or jazz. :)

You know Graham, when I saw Dyar's post about Leo Sayer..I nearly put exactly word for word what you put :)
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.
