We are coming up to the end of the Aussie Rules football season. The AFL (Australian Football League) started off as the VFL (Victorian Football League). There are 10 Victorian teams and 6 non-Victorian teams and the semi finals are this weekend. Not one of the Victorian teams have made it to the semi finals so they are a "tad" annoyed.

I do have to brag that both West Aussie teams are in the semi finals (Before they lose and I can't brag anymore). The West Coast Eagles play the Adelaide Crows and the Fremantle Dockers play the Sydney Swans. So I am sure there is going to be some friendly rivalry here between Rae, Dyar and myself! I would LOVE to see an all West Aussie grand final but I don't think I will hold my breath. I think West Coast is tipped to win but Adelaide is pretty strong at home. West Coast did thump the Western Bulldogs last week though by over 70 points. Freo aren't likely to beat Sydney but stranger things have happened.

It would be just awful if West Coast had to lose to Sydney in the grand final again That was my first and only game I have ever watched.....and I only started watching from half time.....but I made it until the final siren and then went straight onto the forum

My footy team (St George Illawarra) needs to beat Melbourne this weekend to go into the grand final in my version of football. They haven't won the comp since 1979....but they did have the pleasure of losing the 1985, 1992, 1993, 1996 & 1999 grand finals which were a lot of fun....for the opposition at least. So with a bit of luck this weekend they may get to add to their impressive losses of grand finals the week after.

Better than Syd when it comes to the Smurfettes Graham...they love his accent you see.

He's totally excellent and bodacious Graham thank (can you tell Jack & me watched Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure yesterday?). I still love having Ocky about and if my team wins then he may be joining Syd for some fun and frivolity in Europe....I just hope Syd & Ocky don't ditch me over there.

Thanks Graham...no matter even if I stopped collecting and sold my collection I would still keep Ocky forever as he's a special smurf.

Whereas I don't really care too much about footy. Its just a good opportunity to stir the pot! Mr Bunno and I even got married on Grand Final Day in 97, thats how much we care about the game...NOT! Mr Bunno's sister was devastated as she's an avid footy fan too.

Theres a few of those *ahem* on the West Coast team too. Their ex-captain and a teammate were involved in an incident involving high-profile Northbridge identities (which is code for criminals!) He's also been caught running off from his car which he abandoned when he spotted a booze bus. Hence why hes the EX-captain.

Well I must offer my condolences to Rae

Eagles won. We were out in the middle of the bush geo-caching and when we finally could pick up a signal for ABC Regional radio we managed to catch the last 15 mins. It sure was a close game and I was thinking the Crows were gonna make it.

Now to take on the Swans in the Grand Final. Its payback time for last year, Dyar!

I know how you feel Rae....yep, Linda my team were knocked out 1 game short of the Grand Final (2nd year in a row). I had a lot of Scotch tonight (about 8 pretty large glasses) but I think I am Scotch proof as I didn't really even get tipsy tonight.....I guess it just wasn't going to be night.

Maybe next year for me & Rae.....good luck to West Coast Linda

Hehehe it even got an audible giggle that one and I don't laugh out loud at much. Here's hoping they do

Last year a parent from our school, who owns a limousine business, drove his mates in his limo for the 2-3 days straight drive to Melbourne just to see the Grand Final. He said it was cheaper than the airfares which suddenly shot up from the usual $500 or so to $1500 that week. They even put a roo bar on the front just in case. Some people are pretty fanatical about their footy!


PS: Gray, saw some roos while we were geo-caching but we managed not to run any over this time. Even saw some emus!!

Its the last Saturday in September and therefore Grand Final Day and OH MY it's mighty quiet on the eastern front....I wonder why!


What a nailbiting game but YAH!!! the Waussies were victorious. Even the smurfs came out to show their reactions...... (I know they're pretty bad but I was in a hurry cos I wanted to gloat muhahahahahaha!!)
