Hi,

today is the swedish crown princess wedding. So everything on TV and radio is about the wedding. Seven hours from now they will be married and will travel through the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, both in carriage on land and sloop on water. So let´s hope for good weather. :-D

Yes, I saw a lot about it on Dutch television already.
Our little princess Amalia is one of the bridesmaids.
Very nice, a royal wedding after more then 30 years!
Here, the weather is quite bad, rainy and cold, so I`m gonna hang out all day for the telly ( Holland plays its second match against Japan)
I keep my fingers crossed for a dry sunny day in Sweden!
Enjoy it!

Yes Lia,

Last royal wedding here was in 1976, when our king married Sylvia Sommerlath from Germany. But I think she was born in Brazil? I know her family lived in Brazil in the 40s and 50s. So many countries involved since the royal familys last name is Bernadotte and this french dynasty has been in the swedish royal family since 1818.

They say the swedish Queen speaks 6 languages very well. Swedish, portugese, german, french, english and spanish. I could really need her help when I am looking for smurfs!!!!! :-D  I just don´t know how to get in touch with her?? :-?

I think she qualifies as German :) :) :)

I don't remember the wedding of course, but she has always been very popular in Germany and it's quite funny how Germans who would never think of having another king, are proud that one of their own is Queen of Sweden

All the best to the couple and the people of Sweden on this day

Yes Lia, it was beautiful. And it is still running on tv and right now the King is holding his speach for the newly wedded couple.

And the small bridemaids that escorted the princess was very cute! :D

The commentators on the tv told us that almost all of the royal houses in Europe are related in some way with eachother. :-?

I think it is because in old times they had to marry other royal or "noble"( "titled") persons.

Most are descendents from Queen Victoria. She had a lot of children and married them off into all of the European royal families. Some of her offsprings in turn did her proud by having lots of children as well :)

You could be right Maureen.

And the swedish princess who got married today
is our "crown" princess Victoria.

So when our king dies she will actually become
Queen Victoria of Sweden.
