I got this small green roofed house and noticed it does not have the white spots painted on, I cant see any scratches to see if it was taken off so I am guessing they where never painted on there. Would you guys say this is a paint mistake or a variation??

Is it one like this, Gerda, from
Dyar's cottage page?
If so, that is from the French Comics that JPP has mentioned in the Announcement section

Hi Gerda
Well the butterfly looks like the older cottages compared to the one like Dyar's from the French mags so IMHO I would say variation or mistake, either of which is very nice.

I think it may be a variation as there are so may different houses with the color of the windows frames , doors and some of the the doors have the window but not sure

I wonder if the door belongs to the windows as they seem to be of a different color
I like the roof though
Very nice, Gerda....I am looking forward to see what the experts have to say

I got to thinking and if you really think about it the "variations" to these houses can be endless because you can mix and match almost any color to any roof color to come up with a new variation and there is no way of really knowing if one is authentic or not. The possibilities are endless

I agree the possibilities are endless Gerda and I do think that the windows should match the colour of the doors but that is just my opinion and not based on any factual evidence.
I really like the dark green unpainted roof.....it could either be a mistake or someone has removed the white paint off as I don't think it would be that hard to do compared to removing paint from an actual smurf figure.
Either way it makes a nice variation to the others I think
I also still don't have any cottages with the grey windows or doors yet (as far as I know).....I will have to keep a look out for some of those as they seem to be out there...just not yet in my collection though.

I agree I started collecting some of the different smaller houses but like you said I was seeing no end
