Hi guys, I was recently asked about a marking on a sockel. I am no expert on these so know very little about the markings.

The sockel is the blue "Happy Birthday To You" with singer smurf and the marking in question is:

FigurengruBe von
Schleich S
Made in Germany
©

I checked mine, firstly being suprised I had two and then even more suprised to find that one of mine had this marking whilst the other one has another marking:

© 1980 Schleich S
GM 8010858
W Germany

I suppose I have a few questions.

Firstly, how common is the first marking? I know that little about these that for all I know, this is a very common marking.

Secondly, is it common to find the same sockels but with different markings?

Also, are there many different markings for the sockels? I didn't add marking info to Blue Imps in the past but will certainly be doing so in the future so it would be good to know how many markings are out there.

As far as I can see, the two sockels are the same colour, same font for the text but different markings. The sockel on the right is the FigurengruBe sockel.

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Hi Rachel,

I remember talking about this a little while back: There seem to be a very small amount of sockels with the markings: "FigurengruBe von".

Another common one with the same marking is the one below. I think someone said there was only about 6 different ones with that marking.

I cant remember why and how these markings came about though...

Cheers,

David

FigurengruBe (English: figures fosse)...That happens when you type with the English keyboards "Figurengrüße"... :)

There are so less sockels with that marking? I didn't know that...My only sockel with that marking is the card player with ""Viel Erfolg im neuen Lebensjahr und immer einen Trumpf in der Hand!". :D

I haven't checked all of my sockels yet but at least three of them have the Figurengrusse marking.... :D Mine hare the cook, injured smurf and beer smurf all with German writing on them

However, I have the same sockel as David posted but the marking is different....I guess, it pays to check the sockels for markings

I have also found a third marking

Schleich
Peyo
Made in HongKong
Wallace Berrie & Co

I seem to have this marking on a few..

I also seem to have "CE" on a few of my English ones.

I can't remember any sockels as a kid and certainly none after 1990???

Thanks for the answers and info guys, I have learnt a lot from this discussion already and intend to learn as much as I can about these before I update the page on Blue Imps. :-D

I have found one other of mine that also has this marking. :D
