I am scared of that smurf

I got a parcel today with an interesting smurf collection... (some of them probably would cheer Attom's heart, so poor is their condition :) :) )

Included in it is a huge King smurf with a blue mantel...He is very scary looking (at least to me he is looking  ).. I have not made a picture of him yet, because I am soaking him in soap water right now. ....

I have checked good ol' Dyar's website and found a similar one... Mine also has the marking "How 2 work production House" with a yellow hat, however the mantel (?) is different. Mine is blue with white (no black stripes) :?
Does anybody have any information on those? :-?

He reminds me of those puppets you see around Halloween that suddendly come to life..    :sofa: :scaredy: I don't do Halloween usually, but they always have me scared.... :(

I knew if I digged deep enough I would find a threat about this smurf and I did... even two, but here is the one I was looking for

http://forum.bluecavern.com/viewtopic.php?t=6520

Seems everybody loves these, well, everybody but me because I just think that smurf is creepy....

that's ok, since I am used to be quite alone with my opinions :) :) :)

Anyway, here is one question ..... Jocelyn's smurfs show that the smurf with the white hat has the blue cape... Mine has the yellow hat but the blue cape.... Is that a known variation or did somebody switch the cape?

Sorry, I am a bit grouchy tonight.... I have lost way too many trees today and more are to go, :( and I have a very creepy smurf in my bathtub that everybody seems to love but me. :) So, I just know he will be after me tonight :( :) :) :)

Aww Maureen  This is a fake smurf from Hong Kong and they come in three different colours that I know of -- white hat, yellow hat and red hat and in two different sizes, plus whatever colour cape they have material for when they are sold :-?

I have two small (5 inches) and one large (about 10 inches?). My red small one is not shown in this pic.

There is actually a "real" version of this smurf but it's a limited edition....I think Rach has a real one??

thanks for the picture and explanation Staci....

I had to giggle when I saw the picture though, because it looks like the smurf with the Tuba is scared of that big smurf, too :) :) :)

makes me feel sooo much better to know I am not the only one :) :) :)

well, time to go to bed under the protection of my fearless protector ( :sofunny: ) who hides from his own shadow :banghead: :rolf:

Hi Maureen, Stace is absolutely correct. :-D

These larger (and smaller) King figures have been around for a year or two. The real version was a very limited edition and came with a t-shirt, box and broach for his cape. The fakes soon followed, initially, their quality was very poor but more recently this has improved considerably. They seem to have been available in quite a few different colours, the capes in red, green, yellow and blue and the actual smurfs in yellow, red and white.

These are lovely display items but their value is much much less than the originals. :D

well, I admit he kinda grows to ya and he has been behaving very nicely last night in the water :bath:

Here are two pictures of him... I agree he will look nice in the future smurf room :D

I think it's his eyebrows that always scared me, but he is a smurf, so how bad can he really be??? :-? :bolt:

I have decided to keep this smurf as he has been kind of growing on me :) :) :) . However, he is getting a bit on my nerves, because he will not stand up...I had planned to put him on top of my bookshelf but he keeps falling down...the first time he hit me, which I was able to laugh off :-D but after he has fallen down for four or five times within an hour :banghead: well... I decided it's time to ask for help.

I know a lot of you have several of these smurfs...so how do you keep them from falling down?
:-? :?

Sorry Maureen, I can't help you. Mine is quite happy to stay upright without assistance!
Hope you figure something out,

Trish

You could threaten to bust his little kneecaps...that seems to have worked for my guys as they stand up just fine

believe me I already threatened to do certain things to him :) :) :) but he doesn't seem to take my threats seriously :(

I put him on my desk now, and he seems to be doing fine for right now...maybe he doesn't like books? :-?

Oh dear Maureen, sorry to hear your King smurf has a problem staying upright, maybe one or two beers too many. :partyon:

I am assuming you have tried moving his legs a little to try and get better stance so the only thing I can think of to help might be a little of the magic blue tak. I have used this a few times on other wobbly smurfs. :D
