I bought a smurf lot with a #1 grad in it... but from the picture I couldn't tell if it was a fake or not. I didn't bid that high and also wanted the golf playing smurf sockel, so I didn't mind if the Grad was a fake.
I only bidded $25.00 and got the lot for less..... :woohoo:

It arrived today and I compared the #1 Grad with the smurfs on Dyar's website and I must say.... I think mine is an original.. :-? . the diploma is slimmer than the fake one(which I accidentially bought a few weeks ago for much more money). I just compared both and the diploma is definitly slimmer and the face much more rounded....

I am pretty excited to have gotten this for $23.00 with a golf sockel and 8 more smurfs (nothing extraordinary about them)
:D

Nice buy, Maureen -- this is a tricky one that you can't fully tell unless you have your hands on it :D

Yay! Well done Maureen, it looks good to me..he's a nice smurf to have..especially at that price :D
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

That is really cool Maureen as it sounds like you got a great deal here....even without the #1 Grad it sounds like it was a great deal but to get this one as a bonus  .....well I think you deserve it especially with the bad news you had earlier this week.

Are you going to keep both versions (fake & authentic)? I think it's really nice having both a really good way of learning the difference between the 2 so I hope you do decide to keep both.

thanks guys :D

Yes, I am going to keep both, this way I can always compare, and I am not into selling fakes.. :???:

I have noticed another thing. the fake one has its diploma glued to the hand (actually it is coming loose), but the original one has white inside his one hand and the diploma doesn't seem to be glued :-?
Has anybody else noticed that? I am not sure if I have read about it and just forgotten it.

Staci, I agree, you usually can when you have them in your hands. I knew right away when I got my fake one, that the feel wasn't right. Like Karen said in another thread, it feels real rubbery like :) :)

That is wonderful news Maureen. :cheerz:

I always prefer to get the HTF smurfs in lots because although you can never be sure, the chance of them being fakes are a lot less. Also great to hear you got him for such a good price, at least now it will even up a bit the fact you paid a bit more for the fake. :-D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

I just went to check mine for you Maureen....but I can't actually find them. I know I put them near the school but for the life of me I can't see them. I think either my smurf room has eaten them or......hang on, just checking Mrs Dyar's ebay ID....damn, I don't actually know her ebay ID and she won't tell me.

If I find them I will check but I am seriously baffled as to where they are now.
