I've never really had any interest in the PEZ smurfs, but

found out that one of my PEz papa's I listed on EBAY is hot!

he is selling so far at $24.00 .. I noticed this morning..

this is my first time selling stuff, and I am surprised how kinda easy it

is..so far..until I have to go to that post office with all the packages?

is there any shortcuts? anyone know if I should guess at postage?

if only I could get the mailman to come to my door! :):)

That's a nice one Attom! :D

It is quite a rare one with the white beard of papa smurf on the normal smurf with the blue stick.

Glad for you that it is selling well!! :-D

Hi Attom, I haven't really had any interest in the Pez items either but funnily enough had my first three through the post this week. :D

That is great to hear your auction is doing so well, I will keep my fingers crossed that it just goes up and up. :fingersx:

It is great to hear that so far you are having fun selling to, it is so exciting seeing what is being bid on isn't it. What I used to do is take a few smurfs to the post office to get different quotes for within the UK. If it was for abroad, I would take that package to the post office to get the quote before telling the buyer, at least then I didn't get it wrong. I am sure there are ways to calculate the postage online but I tend to use the good old fashioned way and walk to the post poffice. :badger:

papa, I got these once in a lot I bought for other reasons, and I do like

rare stuff, but this is better to sell so I can buy things I may like more!

hi Rachel!

I think your way sounds much better as well, I can make up a few fake

packages and get some estimates.

the online way always ends up super expensive.. for the buyer, which

is not that good, unless they want a kourier service or something like that

Hi Attom,
I have a small postal scale at home that I got at Walmart and I buy my domestic postage thru paypal, which also includes the delivery confirmation. I don't think I have overcharged anybody so far, at least nobody complained so far.... 8-)

I went to the USPS online for international shipping rates to make myself a chart that I keep handy, and also put the packages on the scale and estimate the prize.... If I do overcharge by a lot (more than $1.00) I usually grant the buyer a refund, especially if they pay very fast.... :D

However, I have noticed that on international shipping I often undercharge, which is fine, because I'd rather do that than overcharge...

I never thought about getting an estimate directly from the post office until this weekend when I bought two smurfs from Dyar, and he told me what he was doing... that is a really great way to not over or under charge :D :D .. However, I usually like to post the shipping charge on the listing so there won't be any bad surprises later on, and I also always get a lot of inquiries from international bidders while the auction is on..... the main reason for me to estimate the shipping cost is, that I live 10 miles from a small post office that somehow always charges about 10% more than the main office in Chattanooga which is 50 miles away from home. These 10% are worth the trip though for me, especially since I work in Chattanooga, but they also keep me from going there "just for a rate" :-D

(sorry, for the long post, didn't intend to make it that wordy :( )

Good luck on your auctions, Attom :D

Hi Attom,

If you have some scales you can work it out online as Canadian Post has an online postal calculator.

I do the same as Rach.....I know the postage within Australia (it's about the same as sending the same package from Europe to Australia via airmail for some reason :-?). With international packages it can be trickier and I just don't trust the online postal sites so I make sure I get an accurate quote....plus I work only about 4 minutes walk from a post office so it isn't much of a hassle for me at all.....it's good exercise actually from being on the forum during work times.

hi! Linda and smurfy smurf!

thanks so much for the tips, I'm going to check this out, the easier I can make this the better.:) do you ship alot via UPS? do you have them pick it up? or??/

so far I am using old fashioned stamps! and a small envelope

but that is ok for a single or double smurf.. I suppose , but its not good to

guess..

you both have some great advice, I will start keeping a chart.

That Papa Pez looks to be a really rare item...never seen one with a white cap before. Would of love to bid but I know others would want pez dispensers a lot more than me so I wouldn't be able to compete.

Good luck Attom....I hope it goes thru the roof and you get to buy more of the great ugly beautiful fakes that you love.

Excellent....I guess others realised how rare it was. I wonder if they were Pez collectors or smurf collectors.

Nice price Attom and that should fund the next fake expedition into the depths of ebay.

Dyar

WOW Attom, that sold for a great price, especially as you had it in a lot of others things that you were after. :-D

Hi Maureen, I can certainly understand why you use online postage calculations if you live so far from the post office. We are lucky as our village center has a brilliant post office with the nicest family running it, I end up laughing in there every time and it is only a 5 minute walk. Even better, we have a post box about a minute away. :D
I wonder if they were Pez collectors or smurf collectors.
The buyer is called northern_neck_pez so I am going to take a wild guess.............. :sprint:
