Hi, From Spain!!!!!!!I suppose this question has been discussed in other topic a long time ago, but because I´m here since march...here you are...
Why the surf smurf (nr 20137) is not a supersmurf and butterfly smurf (nr 40209) is a supersmurf?

Interesting question since the Butterfly Smurf is not that much different to the Traveller Smurf (20088).

Not sure....worth asking I think.

I think it is because Schleich does not think these things through. Otherwise there would not be numbers skipped or doubled in the counting process. My guess is that they where short on production and had too many supers to choose from or not enough for a given year. I think too that since they went with themes for the new releases that things have gotten more organised.

just my two cents..

ps.. another point.. why have two diffrent numbers for the same smurf in diffrent colors, yet a complety diffrent mold is a "variation"

Do you mean like 20048 and 20095 ?

Cheers,

Actually I was thinking more like why do we have easter smurfs with diffrent numbers and diffrent colors yet the molds are exactly allike. Also the soccer smurf 20035 and 20416 exactly the same smurf yet diffrent numbers just because they where released in diffrent years and with a diffrent color. Yet a smurf like the digger can have very diffrent molds and be considered One number or even the gargy with lab glasses.. he has a diffrent variation with the finger up.

Just seems that some things schleich does does not make alot of sense so I think when they made the surfboarder he got thrown into the regulars rather than be a super (which I think he should be) as I think anything with removable parts should be part of the super range and not the normal regular range..

Hi JOAQUÍN, no I don't think this topic has ever been discussed before. :-D

I agree it is odd how it is decided what makes a super smurf because as you point out, the butterfly catcher super is no different in terms of accessories to some of the regular smurfs.

Dyar, funny you mention the Traveller smurf as he really is similar to the butterfly catcher. In fact in the past a few smurfers have been caught out by this and have advertised a butterfly catcher with a stick bag as a rare variation. It had me stumped for a while! :???:

I think Gerda is on the right track. There doesn't seem to be a lot of sense in some of the numberings that have been given and also as mentioned, the double numbers for some smurfs and then the very different variations that keep the same number.

I suppose we have to remember that the Schleich numbers that we use today weren't originally issued as can be seen by the release dates and numbers not corresponding for some of the earlier figures and also the fact that smurfs were always produced with being a toy in mind and not a collectible so the numbering system would have been for retail purposes rather than for the buyer / collector.

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Does anybody know why Schleich hasn't released any Supersmurfs lately? :? I mean in the last two or three years? And are they planning on releasing smurf supersmurfs again? :-?

Hi guys, yes it has been a whole 5 years since we have had any new super smurfs. I would love to see a few new ones as well as new buildings and playsets so yes, with any luck, the film may encourage this if not before. :fingersx:
