Hi guys, well after JT's yellow knicker discovery yesterday I have made one of my own today. I am sure many of you will have noticed this one before but it came as a bit of a shock to me as I was sorting smurfs ready to have new photos taken.........

I have even been asked the question in the past - do smurfs have hair? Well the answer is NO!!! Whilst checking the Indian Chief I really was shocked to discover that the Hong Kong variations have no hair! :-o

It took me a good few seconds to work out what you were talking about. :) :)

I never noticed that before, that's a cool discovery. :-D

Funny you should mention this Rachel. I noticed same thing a while ago, but I didn´t dare to tell anyone about it :)
That is quite interesting though...should we think all smurfs are bald? Well not Smurfette of course. Or is this sick joke of some Schleich painter

Anyway, Rachel you earn leadership of our gang with this post :worship: :) :) :)

noticed at all, what a fun discovery! very funny too!

as I have read people always wondered what is under their hats!

hey! they are all bald!

Hah, I knew this already... :)

Also, I thought it was a generally known fact that smurfs are bald? I think I remember them being bald from the comics...

Postby attombomb7 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 1:36 pm
hi!

I thought maybe they had space antenna's or something under those hats! aliens? oooh!

I bet a bald one would be fun! to have in pvc

like Dopey in the dwarfs.. Peyo should have also copied him

in having one bald shy smurf..

I always thought he copied the Snow White group and made them
sort of blue and gargamel who may be the witch with a sex change?

I had realised this in the past but after checking my page I hadn't made any reference to it which I should of.... :-? ....I guess it was a case of too many smurfs in too short a period when I was doing the site. It's definately an interesting observation and worth mentioning. I bet there are more of these types of things that we have seen but never really realise that they are really interesting variations.

Ok we have Rollerskaters....we have Indians.....maybe we should see what other ones we have where the different markings mean that they follow different guidelines because I know there are several more of them....even if I can't remember any off hand.

I knew they were bald too when Greedy took off his hat when he was hiding cakes under there when he was meant to be on a diet.....the image still gives me nightmares. I think Syd has pubic hair under his hat.....I owed him that one after some of the comments he's posted about me.

Yep, I am sure there are a couple of others as well. I will keep my :eyes: open for them. :D

You would have thought they could have given the Indian Chief just a few strands. :-?

Maybe Smurfette's bald too & just wears a blonde wig to keep her head extra warm & cosy :)

Very funny Rachel! :):):

Great discovery too! I'll have to check all the indians I have: (I happened to have quite a few for some reasons!!)

Could it be a paint error?

Hi David, good to have you back. :cheerleader2:

No, I don't think so as all the HK variations seem to be like this. :D

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. How I had never noticed it before I just don't know.

Hi Rach, we never noticed this either, do you think its a common thing with all the Hong kong variations or just an oversite , schleich joke like stated in earlier post :) Lucie :D

Hi Lucie, as far as I know, all the HK Indian Chiefs have the bald head. Whether this was originally intended or a mistake right at the beginning I don't know. It does seem odd though that there is this difference between the HK and WG variations. :-?

All the HK variations show the back of the blue head (including the WBCO & W Berrie Co variations).

The others including WG, Sri Lanka, China and even the Spanish fake all have the white at the back of the head.

hi! everyone

I was taking photos today of lots of my smurfs

and came across a discovery I hadn't seen before

but.... off course its probably another one of these normal things

I never noticed! :)

this is the ERTL smurfette in a die cast car

I have 4 of these things ( don't ask! :)

the 3 all have a white smurfette body and a colored head

but one! has arms holding a black steering wheel, which is part of the mold.

That's a nice variation Attom...I will have to check mine as well.

I did notice something when buying the ERTLS in the past that I hadn't realised before.

If you check out this page below you can see the American brown Smurf-About Cars...but I hadn't realised that they came in more than one type of smurf. So far I have 3....Fireman, Handy & one with an Umbrella.

I am not aware of any other ERTL cars having more than one type of smurf with them so I thought this was unusual.

PS - Another interesting variation which has been discussed before are the Syds....the HK & WG variations with the feet molded together and the other with feet completely seperated.

Postby attombomb7 » Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:47 pm
hi dyar

that was interesting, I hadn;t seen the other Ertl variations

at first glance I thought the firemand's head and handy's head

were put into the wrong cars? but maybe you have a odd error?

I havn;t paid much attention to the Ertl cars as I got mine so long ago

and never really look at them on EBAY, so it is interesting if there are

variations.

that Syd with his feet together sounds amazing! I will have to check mine as well now.

have you got one?

Hi Attom

Here's a pic of the 2 different ones.

The one on the left is the W Germany variation and the other on the right is the Hong Kong one. I was quite shocked when I realised they were different.

My Syd is actually a W Germany variation according to his smelly feet.

Another couple of nice discoveries guys. :-D

Attom, that is quite a major difference isn't it? I will have to check me ERTL vehicles later. I don't think I have got that many to compare but I am sure I do have a few doubles. :D

Dyar, again that is a difference I didn't know about, Thanks. I will have to check my signbearers out a little later. 8)
