Looking at the "who is" there is a status message, I wonder if this is what your friend means, Attom?
status: CLIENT-TRANSFER-PROHIBITED
You could try emailing the technical contact for the people the domain seems to be registered with, their details are: -
tech-c-firstname: Hostmaster
tech-c-lastname: ONEANDONE
tech-c-organization: 1&1 Internet Inc.
tech-c-street1: 701 Lee Rd.
tech-c-street2: Suite 300
tech-c-pcode: 19087
tech-c-state: PA
tech-c-city: Chesterbrook
tech-c-ccode: US
tech-c-phone: +1.8774612631
tech-c-fax: +1.6105601501
tech-c-email:
hostmaster@1and1.com
The status on mine says Locked. I know when I moved my domain name to new registrars last year I had to get the existing registrars to unlock it first and then I had to be able to receive email to the address I registered it with. You used your grubby* something email address and if you can still get mail on that account then I would have thought you can move it.
You can check your details for yourself by looking it up here
