One of the Astro's I got the other day has no markings. Has anyone ever heard of a fake astro, or know what this might be about :-?

Hi Jen

I am not aware of any authentic Astro without markings.....perhaps this is a fake Astro as there are fake ones out there......or maybe.....it is possible that the souls of the feet where the markings were have been sliced off. I have seen this once before where the markings were removed by taking a small slice off the top layer of the souls of the feet. The Astro does look like a normal authentic one....why they would remove the markings (if this is the case).....escapes me...unless it was attached to a sockel or something and had glue or something else atatched to the feet....that's about the best that I can come up with :-?

Any one else have any ideas????

Thanks HPH  .

Ok so I had another look at the bottom and compared it with two others. I don't know if you can see from the photo but all three have the same seam running across the bottom of both feet and up the sides, so that makes me think it couldn't have come off a sockel :-? and also that it couldn't have had the bottoms sliced off :-? what do you think?

To tell you the truth SJ.....I don't really know :-? ......I haven't seen anything like this before and without being able to see it in person I cannot offer any other explanations......I wish I could. Unless that seam line goes all the way through the smurf I am out of answers.

Does anyone else have any other thoughts?

hi !

the only thing I can think of is that this may be Spanish smurf..

if you notice most Spanish smurfs have no markings but are from the same molds as the Germany/Hong kong smurfs..?

:) :) Thanks HPH I'd much rather bring them to Canada than bring them to Sydney (sorry HPH) :).

I'd planned a trip to Canada about 2 years ago but we had to cancel cause Abby started his business. BUt when we do come, I will bring them :)

If it is a Spanish smurf then it might be the only one I've got cause I don't have any others without markings.

I have seen someone sanding the soles to remove pink and red ink and felt pen marks. Sand long enough and it MIGHT go , maybe this one succeed but the markings went at the same time. :-?
I will look at meines to see if i have one like that.
