Wow, I didn't even spot the hair thing. You guys certainly have good eyesight.

And feel free to call me Matt. Bookworm sounds so... formal. 8)

I've just bought some Smurfs for the first time in over a year  And I thought I had finally overcome my addiction

Anyway, the first lot arrived today, so I thought I would share the photos with you. I already have the Diver and Sledging smurf, but they were all part of the lot.

Hi Matt, great to hear from you. :wave2:

Good to see that you are still giving little blue guys a new home, I am sure they will settle in very quickly. :D

Hope the studying is going well. :teaching:

Ah....but if you buy one more today then you will have 7 :D ......and then if you buy one more the next day then you will have 8 :D :D ....one or 2 more after that might give you 10 smurfs.....after that you would of become addicted and a few weeks later you will have 50 in no time at all. It may sound silly but it actually happens.

Anyhow....I think the start of a collection is probably the most exciting period of collecting smurfs so the main thing is to just enjoy your collection and any new ones that come along. You can always ask all of us for any help or any info that you need and I am sure in 6 months your collection will become a lot bigger......I know I had so much fun when I first started.....actually once Mrs Dyar saw the credit card bill she thought I may be having a little too much fun getting my collection started.

Back when smurfs were cheap, lol. :) Seriously though, I started my collection with a bag of the little blue guys and a smurf house all for about £2 from a local carboot sale. That was 14 years ago. A couple years after that I was buying them from collectors fayres from between £1 and £2 a figure. Now, thanks to eBay, some of the prices have just sky-rocketed.

That might be a good thing though. I bought this next little figure about ten years ago for £2, and from what I can gather he's worth a bit more than that today!

Yep that's a very nice variation and worth at least £20 and most likely more these days.

Hopefully we are all picking up items today like this one that are gonna be worth a lot more in years to come.

More smurfy items have been arriving over the past couple of weeks, which means more piccies to post on here in order to show them off!

Having said that, I wasn't impresed with just how grubby some of them were. When the house arrived this morning there were balls of dust inside! Seriously, how long does it take to give it a quick wipe over before you send it out?

(P.S. Apologies if the seller was someone on here, but I wouldn't dare send something out in that condition!)

Hi Matt

Nice to see you have a Katalog there....I learnt a lot when I got my first one so it was well worth purchasing one.

I agree with you that I wouldn't sell grubby items if it could be cleaned.....some of the items I have received in the past have been absolutely filthy. Hopefully they cleaned up ok for you.
