Hi all,

At the moment I am in Michigan and will be in the US for the next couple of weeks. As I might have some extra time (here's hoping :-) ) I was wondering if anybody knew of an interesting place in the following States, which I will be visiting:

NY (sadly I wont be in NYC or Buffalo, but on the route I-80 Cleveland-Newburgh)
Ohio
Mi
Pa
In
Mo
Il
Wi
Ia
ND
SD
Ne
All this means a lot of driving but maybe I can visit a Smurf place along the way, time permitting.

Thank you :D ,
Dennis

:omg: Wow Dennis, that's a huge amount of driving

Can't help you with your search I'm afraid. I didn't see any smurfs during my time in the US. :goodluck:

Hi Dennis :wave2:

Sounds like you have some serious miles to cover. :driver:

Good luck in your quest for American smurfs. Lets hope you can find a huge, so far undiscovered smurf shop selling loads of lovely rare smurfs and variations for a couple of dollars each. :fingersx:

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Hi Dennis!
I've lived in the states my whole life and I don't think I've been to all the states you are going to :) Unfortunately I do not know of any stores that sell smurfs. I usually hunt flea markets or yard sales. There is this huge flea market in PA though - here is the link: Zern's. I have found at least one smurf item every time I've been but you really have to hunt the stores and flea market stalls. There is a toy store inside that has older toy stock and I have had my best luck in there. Not sure of the name but it's the first toy store when you go into the front of the building.

Too bad you aren't going to Buffalo, NY --> great website that has their store here --> http://www.toyline.com/brismurf/default.htm

Have fun in your travels!

Hi Dennis,

Stace is correct about Buffalo, N.Y. Buffalo Road Imports is a twenty minute drive to the east of me. Until I discovered eBay, they and the SCCI were my only outlets for Smurfs. Colleen and her brother have a store in Clarence, N.Y. but her basement at home is packed with Smurfs and other cartoon PVC characters.
A twenty minute drive to the north, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, there is a shop on the main tourist street, Clifton Hill, that still sells Smurfs. You could fullfill a collectors dream and also take in one of the Natural Wonders of the World.

Hi All,

Thank you for the tips, and it is certainly a long drive :-( Today we went fromCleveland to Newburgh,NY and at the moment we are in the MOtel looking at the Hudson, which is a great sight. It is fun to see so many things of the Dutch settlers, as well as names of towns only we seem to be able to pronounce :-) Michigian has quite a few of those we noticed.
Sadly we won't be in the areas of the stores you mentioned. Tomorrow we'll fly to Oceana,Va and back and start the drive to Terre Haute Indiana 800+ miles :banghead: and sadly we will be passing smack in the middle of the twe places in NY and the one in Pa. We'll stay for several days in Milwaukee so if anybody knows anything there I am certainly very interested.
Thank you for the info and kind words, and Staci, this tour will almost complete my state magnet collection, as after these 4 weeks there will only be about 10 States (including PR and the Bahama's) left to visit :D

Hi Dennis

It's a shame you cannot visit Colleen on thsi trip. She helped me out with a very nice deal last year and also helped a few of Graham's Aussie girls with another deal a bit later.

Sounds like you are having a fantastic time over there....wish I was over there too :(

Have a safe trip for the rest of the time you are there and good luck in finding those last 2 magnets.

Dennis, Have you visited Delaware yet? If not, I can send you a magnet (although that might be cheating a little :) )

If you go through WI and you drive by madison there is a store there that sells the newer smurfs and some playsets. http://www.puffins.com/ Otherwise just the local flea markets are your only best bet.

If Ripon isn't too far out of your way you are more than welcome to stop in and say hi! :D

Well I know of one.....Al's Diner. :D

Although I guess that's not very helpful so you can probably tell me to sit on it.

Hi Dennis,
I hope you have a fun time. Are you on a bus tour?
I was on a bustour when I visited New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and some cities in Canada(Quebeck, Toronto, Ottowa) and it was very interesting....
Have you been to TN yet? If not and you want a magnet, I am sure I can find a nice one for you, although like Staci said, it might be cheating... :) :) :)

I think it would be nice if you find some smurfs on your trip
After reading all the posts, guys, I take my words back when I say that there are no smurf in the US,.... I am just at the wrong place.... I do believe a trip up north is overdue for me. 8-) 8-) 8-)

does anybody know of a place in Cleveland, OH or Chicago that sells smurfs? :-?

Hi, too bad you do not come to Montreal, Qc. I know 2 or 3 smurfy stores.
Of course they sell only the latest ones but still nice to look at them at $ 4.99 each(CAN).
You will be spending a lot of time driving. I know i drive 40,000 Km a year.
Enjoy your vacations
John
I love to create situation with smurfs and change or add colors.
