By the 1980s, Hanna-Barbera had taken cartoon characters the Smurfs and developed a U.S. TV show for them. That program, which is populated by the small, blue human-like characters called Smurfs. "The Smurfs" still air in some 30 countries.

Hi Cheesy, yes I heard this news at lunch time Today. Very sad indeed.
They didn't mention the smurfs on the radio but certainly many of his other cartoons such as The Flinstones and Scooby Doo.
I think to make it to 95 years of age is wonderful and I am sure he had a very fufilling life.
When I was little I used to think that Hanna-Barbera was the name of a lady who made all the cartoons.

Very sad news, his cartoons have brought joy to many. I'm sure he will be sadly missed

yes very sad news, I'm sure at 95 he had a wonderful prosperous life
leaving a legacy to the world, for generations to come. something few can
do. too bad he won't be around to create new wonders.

Yes we heard the news too and he'll be sadly missed.
He had a great life and living untill 95 is a great achievement in itself these days......

I loved some of those toons when growing up and he made a nice contribution to millions of children's lives.

I must have missed this on the news. It is sad to hear but then I can remember having so much fun watching: The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Top Cat, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Wacky Races etc etc...the list goes on.

On Boomerang, they play cartoons mostly from the 60's to the 90's, mostly Hanna-Barbera.
