Per the Schleich site, the movie smurfs will be taken off the 2013 production line

They should soon become pretty rare since they've only been produced for 3-4 years

Thanks for sharing, Moey.
Well, to me it is not a surprise at all. I even expected them to be deleted this year.

Great info Maureen!!
Let´s hope they will make new smurfs for the new movie. Or what would you think? Which are the new characters in the new movie for 2013?

I think Vanity will be in there and they may decide to do the new gargamel made "smurfs" (forgot their name just now)
I am hoping for the old look and not movie look though.

I agree Maureen.
But my guess would be that they will make them like the last smurfs from the movie, with the new looks. If they will make new ones for this movie also.
Since we got new supersmurfs this year from the belgium olympic team, I am very much hoping for something similair or even a playset next year.
We are allowed to dream, right???

Yes, Andre...I fully expect the movie like looking new smurfs for 2013
However, speaking of dreaming....since the movie was such a success and Schleich kind of missed the smurf bandwagon a bit, I am hoping they will do more in 2013

When I read the thread's title I first thought Schleich won't sell any smurfs in 2013 anymore.
It's good to know anyway.
Am I right that they took away that information from the website?

Hi Maureen and Simon,
Since my daughters also collects Schleich I also reads about news regarding the animals on other forums. They were really dissapointed that Schleich will remove so many animals in the collectors items pages. They actually also manage to see some of the new animals which will be sold in 2013 on a toysellers page. But those were removed because the seller was not allowed to show them yet???
Regarding the removal of the collectors items Schleich answered them that they will be back in mid november, since they are making changes on their website to make it more international. But most important and intersting for us is that they say that all the ones shown on the collectors items pages are the correct ones to be removed next year.
Did you remember exactly which smurfs were on that page Maureen?

yes, it was the movie set from 2009
A seller on Facebook (Mig Bealert) announced he had seen the new smurfs in a trading catalog already but isn't allowed to show them yet. I think they are usually allowed to show them around Nov 1st, so we should get to see them in a week or two (some sellers show them earlier to their favorite customers, I think
)

That seems correct Maureen,
if sellers have shown pictures of the new animals they most certainly also have seen the new smurfs, but as you say Schleich don´t want anyone to see them yet.
Another thing regarding the movieset. I will start a question about them in the smurf collectors corner pages. Very interesting for some collectors.

As a Barbie collector (yes, also) Mattel is very smart about working together with the collectors. They had the 'Colector Request' line. For example: they actually reproduced a Barbie from 1959. Wondering what greatness Schleich could do if they would go for the same idea!
:-)

I noticed it is possible to find the collectors items smurfs for 2013 on the Schleich website. But you can not search them. They are only "history"-pages??
